Me too! Seriously, sometimes it keeps me up at night.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully I\u2019ll be sleeping easy tonight because the folks over at vehicle leasing firm, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.selectcarleasing.co.uk\/ev-government-incentives\">Select Car Leasing<\/a> (SCL), have crunched the numbers ranking 33 European countries to find out who is the best at electric vehicles. Yes, I\u2019m using that as a verb.<\/p>\n<p>SCL ranked countries on 12 metrics including, how many EVs are on the roads, how many EVs each country has per 100,000 inhabitants, the state of public charging, ownership benefits, purchase incentives, and the cost of a Renault Zoe in comparison to the average salary of each nation.<\/p>\n<p><span>We often look at overall sales figures and how many public charging points a country has, to gain insight into how well it\u2019s supporting the switch to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c-mrkdwn__highlight\">electric<span>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c-mrkdwn__highlight\">cars<\/span><\/span>. So this ranking is quite comprehensive in comparison. Let\u2019s take a look at who came out on top.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Norway_is_obviously_winning\"><\/span>Norway is obviously winning<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, those perennial EV lovers up in Norway top the list. It has cut its EV subsidy more than once, and early this year it removed it entirely for cars over \u00a335,000 ($50,000).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the UK has the 14th best EV subsidies across all of Europe. In the Nordic nation there are 8,250 electric cars for every 100,000 people in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In the UK there are just 671 EVs per 100,000 by way of comparison.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"EV_affordability\"><\/span>EV affordability<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One of the most illuminating metrics however is EV affordability. To calculate this, SCL looked at a country\u2019s average yearly salary in comparison to the Renault Zoe, one of the most affordable EVs on the market.<\/p>\n<p>As it h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens, countries that have bought a lot of electric cars score favorable under this measure. When the Renault Zoe \u2014 a supposedly cheap EV \u2014 costs 84% of the yearly average salary, it\u2019s understandable that people say they cost too much.<\/p>\n<p>Ranking 14th means there are 19 other countries where owning an EV is prohibitively expensive for the majority.<\/p>\n<p>Switzerland, a country where people are clearly all pretty well paid, ranks best in this metric. A Renault Zoe costs just 29% of the average yearly wage in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, we already knew that Norway is kinda of winning when it comes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> of EV adoption. But this study shows that many other European countries are closing the gap.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><i><span>Do EVs excite your electrons? Do ebikes get your wheels spinning?
