Standard Chartered is hopping on the crypto trading bandwagon.<\/p>\n

The British banking giant today announced that its innovation unit, SC Ventures,\u00a0will launch a digital asset brokerage and exchange platform for institutional clients in Europe.<\/p>\n

StanChart is establishing the venture alongside BC Technology<\/a> Group, the parent company of Hong Kong-licensed digital-asset platform OSL.<\/p>\n

The partnership will be based in the UK and offer trading\u00a0in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other digital assets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex Mason, the head of SC Ventures, said the platform\u00a0will enable safe adoption and trading by the world\u2019s largest investors:<\/span><\/p>\n

We have a strong conviction that digital assets are here to stay and will be adopted by the institutional market as a highly relevant asset class.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The project brings another financial giant into the crypto trading fray.<\/p>\n

Mira Christanto, an analyst at\u00a0data provider Messari, tweeted that the move \u201cwill catapult crypto adoption by 10 years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, not every major financial institution shares StanChart\u2019s faith in digital assets. The bank\u2019s arch-rival, HSBC, revealed\u00a0last week<\/a> that it\u2019s got no plans to launch a crypto trading desk or offer clients virtual currencies due to the market\u2019s volatility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
