\n Quarantine hasn\u2019t stopped these seniors from rocking.<\/p>\n

North London\u2019s Sydmar Lodge Care Home has been under lockdown for four months, but restricted living hasn\u2019t curtailed residents\u2019 creativity: The nursing home\u2019s seniors and carers alike have been spending their time re-creating classic album covers.<\/p>\n

In a now viral tweet, the home\u2019s activities coordinator, Robert Speker, posted a selection of side-by-side shots showing iconic albums next to the re-created versions of them. These include a version of Adele\u2019s \u201c21,\u201d where a resident assumes the same facial expression and head positioning, but replaces the original label with her own name and age \u2014 Vera, 93.<\/p>\n

In a version of Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201c1989,\u201d a resident wears the same shirt as Swift, but puts her own initials and birth year at the bottom of the Polaroid-design \u2014 R.C., 1922.<\/p>\n

Bruce Springsteen\u2019s \u201cBorn in the USA\u201d is transformed into Martin Steinberg\u2019s \u201cBorn in England,\u201d with the St. George\u2019s Cross instead of America\u2019s stars and strip<\/a>es, and David Bowie\u2019s \u201cAladdin Sane\u201d is redone as Roma Cohen\u2019s \u201cSydmar Lodge.\u201d<\/p>\n

After posting the images, Speker received an outpouring of support, with some proposing that the home make a calendar of the re-created album covers. Others made requests for which album covers the residents should re-create next. For many fans, the images were inspiring and brought to mind memories of their own elderly family\u2019s experience maintaining their internal youth.<\/p>\n

On the heels of the project\u2019s viral success, Speker started a GoFundMe called \u201cThe Show Must Go On\u201d to continue funding fun senior activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cElderly people will remain in lockdown for a long time, and I want to make their time as happy and full of enjoyment and interest as possible,\u201d Speker wrote in the fund-raiser\u2019s descript<\/a>ion. \u201cAs this situation is ongoing it could be months before the situation changes for them, and the need to keep them happily entertained and full of spirit has never been more crucial.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the US, elderly music lovers have found solace in quarantine with Radio Recliner, the first and only retiree-run radio station dedicated to the music and memories of the Silent Generation.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
