{"id":265532,"date":"2021-06-03T00:06:21","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T21:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/im-having-my-twin-sisters-baby\/"},"modified":"2021-06-03T00:06:21","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T21:06:21","slug":"im-having-my-twin-sisters-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/im-having-my-twin-sisters-baby\/","title":{"rendered":"#I&#8217;m having my twin sister&#8217;s baby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#I&#8217;m having my twin sister&#8217;s baby<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Identical twins Amy Fuggiti and Courtney Essenpreis have done everything together over the years, whether it was attending the same college, playing their favorite sports of softball and basketball or grabbing coffee every morning.<\/p>\n<p>Now the sisters\u2019 bond has been further strengthened through an incredible act of generosity \u2014 Courtney is carrying Amy\u2019s longed-for baby.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even have to ask her to be our surrogate,\u201d Amy told The Post. \u201cWe\u2019re so intrinsically tied, it felt like something that was supposed to h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 36-year-old Chicagoans, who shared their story on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stitcher.com\/show\/pregnantish\/episode\/my-identical-twin-is-carrying-my-rainbow-baby-84399047\">podcast \u201cPregnantish<\/a>,\u201d can\u2019t wait for the arrival of the little girl in October.<\/p>\n<p>She is the result of IVF paired with a procedure known as PGT-M, or pre-implantation genetic testing for monogenic\/single gene defects. It\u2019s a complex test of an embryo that\u2019s meant to reduce the risk of having a child with a genetic condition.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/twinfertility_sisters\/\">Amy and Courtney<\/a> \u2014 who are so-called <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellfamily.com\/mirror-vs-identical-twins-2447139#:~:text=Mirror%20twins%2C%20or%20mirror%20image,are%20looking%20in%20a%20mirror.&amp;text=Most%20mirror%20twins%20actually%20fall%20into%20the%20category%20of%20identical%20twins.\">mirror twins<\/a>, with matching freckles on opposite sides of their faces, and one is right handed and the other left handed \u2014 have the chromosomal disorder Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome. The pricey procedure  involves screening embryos in the lab and only transferring those without the disorder. However, an extra complication for Amy was the way her uterus had rejected healthy embryos in the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve lost count of the number of retrievals I\u2019ve had,\u201d said Amy, a compliance coordinator. She was plagued with bad luck during four years of IVF cycles. The embryos created with her husband, Anthony, 38, either failed the genetic testing or did not implant following transfer. In early February, the sisters held hands during the transfer of the frozen, 5-day-old blastocyst. \u201cWe didn\u2019t want to get our hopes up too much after all the disappointments,\u201d admitted Amy.<\/p>\n<p>But they were in luck. She recalled the moment Courtney confirmed her positive pregnancy test. Her youngest, now 2 \u00bd, was a true blessing, born after the tragic loss of a daughter during Courtney\u2019s second trimester. <\/p>\n<p>Her current pregnancy as a gestational carrier is going well, despite bouts of morning sickness in the first few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been totally normal,\u201d said Courtney, who works as an assistant at a university. \u201cThe fact I\u2019m pregnant with my sister\u2019s baby feels entirely normal.
