“#\u2018The Beast Must Die\u2019 Gets Second Season Ahead of AMC Premiere<\/strong>”

Eagerly anticipated revenge thriller The Beast Must Die<\/em> doesn\u2019t premiere in the U.S. until next month, but it has already been picked up for a second season.<\/p>\n

The first two episodes of the Jared Harris (Chernobyl<\/em>) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight<\/em>) drama set new viewing records for a series<\/a> premiere, according to BritBox UK which has been streaming the six-episode show across the pond.<\/p>\n

The show is set to premiere on AMC+ on Monday July 5, and on AMC a week later on July 12 at 10:00PM ET\/PT.<\/p>\n

Following this success, BritBox has announced that a second season, titled A Sword in my Bones<\/em>, is in development and will be based on an original story created by the show\u2019s screenwriter Gaby Chiapp<\/a>e (Vera<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Produced by New Regency Television and Ridley Scott\u2019s Scott Free, The Beast Must Die<\/em> is based on the 1938 novel of the same name by Nicholas Blake (the pseudonym of poet Cecil Day-Lewis). It follows a mother who sets out to avenge her young son\u2019s death, infiltrating the family of the man she believes killed her son while a detective tries to unpick the web of tragedy and steer a course to justice.<\/p>\n

Jumbo stars as Frances Cairnes, the mother determined to get justice for her son\u2019s death by any means necessary. Harris plays the cruel and pompous George Rattery, the man suspected of being responsible for the hit and run that killed the young boy. The Serpent<\/em>\u2018s Billy Howle portrays Nigel Strangeways, the detective caught between proving George\u2019s guilt while also stopping Frances\u2019 plans for revenge. Howle is expected to reprise his role in the second season.<\/p>\n

The Beast Must Die<\/em> also stars Geraldine James (Back to Life<\/em>), Nathaniel Parker (Vanity Fair<\/em>), Maeve Dermody (The Frankenstein Chronicles<\/em>), Mia Tomlinson (The Lost Pirate Kingdom<\/em>), and newcomer Barney Sayburn. It is directed by Dome Karukoski (Tom of Finland<\/em>) and produced by Sarada McDermott (Bridgerton<\/em>).<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled by the reception to The Beast Must Die<\/em>,\u201d said Howle. \u201cA lot of hard work by all the cast and crew went into making the first original drama for BritBox, during a pandemic, and it seems to have paid off. I would relish the opportunity to take on the role of Strangeways again and am really excited by the prospect of this next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n
