\n The Big App<\/a>le\u2019s gun-violence epidemic continued unabated last week, with police reporting 49 shootings and 60 victims over the seven-day period ending Sunday\u2013 nearly four times the number over the same one-week period last year, NYPD data shows.<\/p>\n

There were just 13 shootings over the same week last year.<\/p>\n

Despite the uptick in gunplay, police said the six murders last week were nearly half of the 10 over the same time span in 2019, the stats show.<\/p>\n

But the numbers also show that murder and gun busts have plummeted in the past 28 days, since the NYPD\u2019s anti-crime unit was disbanded June 15 amid Black Lives Matter protests calling for defunding of the police department.<\/p>\n

Cops made 89 gun arrests in the five boroughs over the past month, a 67-percent dip over the 270 busts from the same period in 2019. Murder arrests were down nearly 48 percent over the span, from 44 last year to 23 this year.<\/p>\n

The drop in last week\u2019s numbers is even steeper, with three murder arrests in the week ending Sunday compared to 13 over the same period last year, a nearly 77 percent falloff. Gun arrests were down 71.6 percent, with 21 this week and 74 in the same week last year, the statistics show.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
