\nSounds like we\u2019ve got a real-life superhero in the making on our hands!<\/p>\n

Over Memorial Day weekend, a family in Florida (of course) was trying to enjoy the holiday on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville when disaster nearly struck \u2014 if not for an AMAZING act of physical prowess by a 7-year-old boy. Chase Poust<\/strong> was swimming alongside his dad\u2019s boat, which was anchored for fishing. His 4-year-old sister Abigail<\/strong> was also swimming with a flotation device, but when a strong current overtook them, Abigail let go of the boat.<\/p>\n

Speaking with local news<\/a> outlet WJXT<\/em>, Chase shared:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe current was so strong, that my sister \u2014 she usually hangs out at the back of the boat, and she let go. So I let go of the boat, and I grabbed her, and then I was stuck.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As Abigail floated away on the current, their father, Steven Proust<\/strong>, jumped in the water after her. He told the news station:<\/p>\n

\u201cI told them I loved him because I wasn\u2019t sure what\u2019s going to happ<\/a>en. I tried to stick with her as long as I could \u2014 both of them, really. I wore myself out. She drifted away from me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile, though he \u201cfelt really scared,\u201d Chase also let go of the boat \u2014 and began swimming for shore. He described that \u201che would doggie paddle, then float on his back to make sure he wouldn\u2019t tire himself out,\u201d per WJXT<\/em>. The young boy explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe current was going the opposite way of going to the boat and the shore so it was very hard to swim that way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

No kidding!!!<\/p>\n

That would clearly be difficult for a fully grown adult, let alone a 7-year-old! And yet, after swimming for what he estimated was an hour, Chase made it to the riverbank. Once on shore, he ran to the nearest house and knocked on the door, asking for help.<\/p>\n
