\nNew York, NY \u2013 <\/span> Iconic Hip Hop label Tommy Boy Records has reportedly been acquired by music-rights company Reservoir for a whopping $100 million.<\/p>\n

According to Variety,<\/a> <\/em>the deal consists of more than 6,000 masters, including Hip Hop staples such as Coolio\u2019s \u201cGangsta\u2019s Paradise,\u201d House of Pain\u2019s \u201cJump Around\u201d and Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force\u2019s \u201cPlanet Rock.\u201d<\/p>\n

But what about De La Soul\u2019s catalog?\u00a0Since parting with Tommy Boy, they\u2019ve been locked in a contentious battle with the imprint over their masters, which came to a head in 2019 when the group publicly called out found Tom Silverman\u00a0for his alleged shady business practices.<\/p>\n

The Long Island Hip Hop trio released six albums with the label, including the 1989 classic 3 Feet High and Rising,<\/em> 1991\u2019s De La Soul is Dead,<\/em> 1993\u2019s Buhloone Mindstate<\/em> and 1996\u2019s Stakes Is High<\/em>. The group\u2019s last album with the label, AOI: Bionix,<\/em> dropped in 2001.<\/p>\n
