These Queen Bees need to bee-have.<\/p>\n

A Los Angeles beekeeper proved the industry ain\u2019t so honey-sweet after lashing out at a fellow bee gal for allegedly making a mockery of the profession. A TikTok video of her stinging attack is currently causing a buzz on social media<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The feud was reportedly ignited by a series<\/a> of viral beekeeping videos posted by Texas beekeeper Erika Thompson (@texasbeeworks<\/a>), who boasts a whopping 6 million followers on TikTok. <\/p>\n

The latest tutorial, which has over 18 million views<\/a>, shows the blonde bombshell removing a queen-less colony from an umbrella while wearing only a denim jacket and no protective gear. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo I started scooping bees off the umbrella and putting them into the hive,\u201d intones Thompson soothingly while snatching up the stinging insects with her bare mitts \u00e0 la \u201cCandy Man\u201d in an effort to find the queen.<\/p>\n

Despite her lack of bee-proof app<\/a>arel, Thompson suggested she was in no danger from the homeless colony, which she claimed were \u201cvery docile\u201d as they \u201cdon\u2019t have any resources to defend.\u201d <\/p>\n

Later on, the steel-nerved bug whisperer supposedly saves the bereft bees by gifting them an \u201cextra\u201d queen that she\u2019d been keeping in her jean shirt pocket. <\/p>\n

\u201cI put the bees in my apiary so they can continue the important work they do in a place that\u2019s safer for them and for people, and it was another great day of saving the bees,\u201d she cooed on camera. Needless to say, TikTok was enthralled with Thompson\u2019s supposed \u201cWicker Man\u201d-esque connection to the tiny critters. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis really is the coolest thing ever,\u201d fawned one enchanted fan on TikTok. <\/p>\n

However, not everyone thought her methods were so bee-utiful. Los Angeles beekeeper Friday Chamberlain, who appears to work for the West Hollywood-based organization LA Honeybee Rescue, accused Thompson of \u201csetting a dangerous precedent\u201d with her protection-free approach.<\/p>\n

Twitter users recently posted a mashup of her accusatory TikTok clips<\/a>, which currently boasts 2.2 million views. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat she is doing \u2014 opening up hives with her hair down, wearing dark clothes with exposed skin \u2014 is dangerous,\u201d fumed the shorn-headed critic, who goes by @lahoneybeerescue<\/a> on TikTok. <\/p>\n

Indeed, Hilary Kearney, a beekeeper and the author of\u00a0queen bee bible \u201cQueenSpotting,\u201d told the Cut<\/a> said such attire is particularly problematic as \u201cbees have evolved to be defensive towards dark colors because of bears and skunks and other predators that are typically furry and dark.\u201d <\/p>\n

While Chamberlain\u2019s \u201c100% OK with\u201d Thompson demonstrating the docility of swarms, \u201cthe fact is, she goes into removals without wearing any safety gear,\u201d explained the bug specialist of her seemingly Treadwellian approach<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Post has reached out to Chamberlain for comment.<\/p>\n

The incensed insect expert also wasn\u2019t a huge fan of the accused huckster\u2019s flowing locks, saying she keeps her own mane short so \u201cbees don\u2019t get caught in it\u201d and sting her. <\/p>\n

Not only that, but the Los Angeles keeper claims that Thompson stages her removals, which is why she\u2019s able to conduct them sans-PPE. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe looks pretty doing it and that\u2019s because it\u2019s faked,\u201d Chamberlain scoffed on camera, explaining that her husband pre-cuts the combs for her \u201cvery courteously.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m straight up calling her out,\u201d continued the bee shepherd. \u201c@texasbeeworks, I see you, we all see you, all of us female removal specialists, we see you, we know you\u2019re faking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Needless to say, the online apiary was abuzz over the dueling keepers viral TikTok bee-f.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never knew I wanted to see bee keeper beef until now,\u201d wrote one Twitter comedian.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe BEEtrayal,\u201d quipped another.<\/a><\/p>\n

Some flocked to Thompson\u2019s defense with one backer writing<\/a>, \u201cWhat is fake? She is literally filming herself around bees and scooping them in her hand. Are the bees fake? Lol I\u2019m not following.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another commenter correctly observed<\/a> that the Texas bee wrangler also posts videos<\/a> of herself with \u201chair up, protective gear all that on her Instagram.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cSaving bees is saving bees wether her husband does the heavy lifting or not lol seems like this chick just clout chasing by trying to call her out,\u201d they wrote in defense of their queen-bee keeper. <\/p>\n

However, while experts agreed that Thompson\u2019s gear-free approach wasn\u2019t altogether problematic, they admitted that it could give amateur keepers the wrong idea. Dr. Judy Wu-Smart, research entomologist at the Bee Lab at University of Nebraska\u2013Lincoln, told the Cut that Thompson\u2019s technique isn\u2019t necessarily dangerous for \u201cexperienced beekeepers who understand the biology and behavior of honeybees\u201d and that many beekeepers work with minimal protection.<\/p>\n

However, \u201cit\u2019s not recommended for just anyone to try, of course,\u201d she said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
