The GOAT just passed yet another NFL record \u2013 and the new season is still three months away. <\/p>\n

A Tom Brady rookie trading card sold for $3.1 million at the Lelands Mid-Spring Classic Auction on Friday, a record amount for a football card sold in a public action. Lelands did not reveal the name of the buyer.<\/p>\n

Brady, whose nickname stands for Greatest Of All Time, is a seven-time Super Bowl champion, including last season\u2019s title with Tampa Bay, the winningest player in NFL history, the holder of almost every individual passing record in league history, and the bane of every New York Jets fans\u2019 existence.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no surprise that Tom Brady continues to break records at almost 44 years old,\u201d Casey Sherman, co-author of the 2018 book, \u201c12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady\u2019s Fight for Redemption,\u201d<\/a> told The Post. \u201cSomeday soon the Brady rookie card will be the most valuable card on the market, worth more even than Mickey Mantle\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees slugger\u2019s 1952 Topps trading card is currently valued at $5.2 million, tied for the most expensive sports card of all time with a LeBron James rookie card, according to<\/a> sports business analyst Darren Rovell.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s sale eclipses the previous football record of $2.25 million netted by another Brady rookie card sold just two months ago.\u00a0\n <\/p><\/div>\n
