Simon wrote two, well, three of my favorite films. <em>You\u2019re Next<\/em>, <em>The Guest, <\/em>and V\/H\/S. If you haven\u2019t seen any of these films, I recommend you watch them after watching <em>S\u00e9ance<\/em> of course. Nothing is as it seems.<\/p>\n<p>Simon gave us Erin played by Sharni Vinson and the killers that took things to the next level. L.C. Holt wearing the lamb mask, Simon Barrett himself in the Tiger mask, Lane Hughes in the fox mask. In <em>You\u2019re Next <\/em>we also had the amazing Barbara Crampton and Larry Fessenden.<span id=\"more-166575\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-166660\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-7.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-7-310x169.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-7-100x55.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p><em>The Guest <\/em>starred Dan Stevens, he played \u201cDavid\u201d. Lance Reddick playing a super serious agent, Leland Orser playing this over worked, trying to get ahead dad, Maika Monroe as Anna, Brendan Meyer played her brother Luke. <em>The Guest <\/em>was sort of totally unexpected. We got an awesome Ethan Embry moment.<\/p>\n<p>The soundtrack to <em>The Guest <\/em>was also great. \u201cHaunted When the Minutes Drag\u201d performed by Love and Rockets and Hocico\u2019s \u201cI Want to go to Hell\u201d. I digress, the soundtrack is great. It was sort of reminscinant to <em>The Hitcher <\/em>(1986). John Ryder (Rutger Hauer) had no reason really to cause all the chaos he causes in <em>The Hitcher<\/em> (1986).<\/p>\n<p>I got slightly distracting thinking about <em>The Guest s<\/em>oundtrack and wound up listening to a few of the songs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-166662\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-2.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-2-310x147.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-2-100x47.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-166663\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-3.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-3-310x134.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/S\u00e9ance-2021-MOVIE-REVIEW-3-100x43.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I am pretty excited to watch <em>S\u00e9ance <\/em>to find out what kind of sorcery Simon Barrett has conjured up.<\/p>\n<p>The film opens with Yvonne, Kerrie, Bethany, Alice, Helina, Lenora, and Rosalind performing a candlelit s\u00e9ance. Kerrie doesn\u2019t do too well. The girls think it\u2019s another academy prank. Beautiful music, haunting images, and the arrival of Camille (Suki Waterhouse). Camille arrives at the Edelvine Academy and Lenora (Jade Michael) shows her to her room.<\/p>\n<p>Camille is already targeted by the mean girl group. They don\u2019t know Camille though. \u00a0Camille is doing what some folks do to annoy obnoxious people, she\u2019s killing them with kindness and sarcasm.<\/p>\n<p>Alice (Inanna Sarkis) is the leader of this group. Women should build each other up. Life is too short for all of this. She is reminded that she \u201ctook Kerrie\u2019s place\u201d and that set the girls off right away. You aren\u2019t quite sure what they will truly be like. It\u2019s not the stereotypical characters.<\/p>\n<p>There is tension, fear, you aren\u2019t quite sure what will h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en but you get an idea and the film barely started. Camille is sent to see the head mistress of the academy.<\/p>\n<p>The group of girls are played by: Kerrie (Megan Best), Bethany (Madisen Beaty), Yvonne (Stephanie Sy), Alice (Inanna Sarkis), Helina (Ella-Rae Smith), Lenora (Jade Michael), Rosalind (Djouliet Amara).<\/p>\n<p>Camille has her first strange experience in her academy dorm. We also meet Trevor (Seamus Patterson). He is the guy on-campus who fixes stuff and keeps things in line. He seems nice, Camille seems to like him. His mother is the head mistress. Helina is genuinely being friendly to Camille (we hope.). What do the girls do during detention? (It\u2019s not <em>The Breakfast Club<\/em>.) I\u2019ll give you a hint\u2026 you need a planchette\u2026 and you may want to say another prayer, grab some rosary beads.<\/p>\n<p>They do a s\u00e9ance, Camille tells Helina to play along and be nonchalant. They think it\u2019s another prank. If someone is killing people off, is it the head mistress or her son? Is it a tormented student? Simon Barrett doesn\u2019t give us sleepy characters.<\/p>\n<p>Lenora goes missing after being texted by a mystery man. The girls start looking in to what happened to the original girl. Camille gets Trevor to open Lenora\u2019s door. They do find something.<\/p>\n<p>Another one of the girls dies. The head mistress is unbothered to the highest degree. Helina decides to hang out with Camille. Shit gets real, real fast. Simon drops a PLOT TWIST! It\u2019s a wild, unexpected rollercoaster of a movie.
