interview Sunday that higher interest rates would be \u201ca plus\u201d for policy makers.<\/p>\n<p> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-06-06\/yellen-says-higher-interest-rates-would-be-plus-for-u-s-fed?sref=Oeyjq8by\" class=\"icon none\">Speaking with Bloomberg News<\/a> following a G-7 finance ministers\u2019 meeting in London, Yellen said it\u2019s OK if President Joe Biden\u2019s $4 trillion spending plans trigger inflation and higher rates.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       \u201cIf we ended up with a slightly higher interest-rate environment it would actually be a plus for society\u2019s point of view and the Fed\u2019s point of view,\u201d she told Bloomberg. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been fighting inflation that\u2019s too low and interest rates that are too low now for a decade,\u201d she said. \u201cWe want them to go back to\u201d a normal environment, \u201cand if this helps a little bit to alleviate things then that\u2019s not a bad thing \u2014 that\u2019s a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Fed has said it won\u2019t start to scale back its $120 billion-a-month asset purchases until the economy had made \u201csubstantial further progress\u201d toward the Fed\u2019s goals of full employment and stable long-run 2% inflation.<\/p>\n<p>While indicators of inflation have been rising, bond yields have been subdued, leaving many experts skeptical that a \u201ctaper tantrum\u201d in in the cards whenever the Fed
