A Texas woman has gone viral on TikTok for sounding the alarm about finding a tracking device in her bag following an evening out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis weekend on Saturday I went to dinner with a group of friends for this girl\u2019s birthday,\u201d Sheridan Ellis says<\/a> in the recent clip, which has been viewed more than a million times and has received almost 190,000 likes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you know me I don\u2019t normally carry a purse, but on Saturday I did because we had decorations and stuff for the table,\u201d Ellis explains.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the night, I\u2019m cleaning my purse out and I find this. If you don\u2019t know what this is, it\u2019s a Tile. It\u2019s basically a tracker, people put it on their keys and whatnot,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not mine, I don\u2019t know how it got in my purse. I immedia<\/a>tely took the battery out, don\u2019t worry but yeah \u2026 Check your purses and stay safe out there,\u201d she adds in the chilling \u201cPSA,\u201d or public service announcement.<\/p>\n

In the comments, Ellis said she found the device \u2014 designed to help users locate their personal items like their keys and phone \u2014 before she got home and made sure it did not belong to anyone at the dinner, according to Newsweek<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She said she hasn\u2019t reported the incident to police because she didn\u2019t know when the Tile was slipped into her bag, adding that she didn\u2019t want to reinstall the battery.<\/p>\n

TikTok users were quick to offer the young woman advice.<\/p>\n

\u201cSet up a sting operation! Put the tile on one of your huge male friends\u2019 doorstep and monitor it with their Ring doorbell! Free 24 hour surveillance!\u201d one wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police can definitely find out who purchased that and who download<\/a>ed the app registered to it. Go to the police. That is very scary,\u201d another viewer said.<\/p>\n

A third wrote: \u201cOMG! I have pre\/teen girls. Thanks for putting this out there. But seriously, how many more things do we have to be aware of?!\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
