\n Over the weekend, an important, groundbreaking scientific discovery was made: Everything is made of cake.<\/p>\n

Social-media users came to this conclusion after several now-viral videos circulated showing hyper-realistic looking pastries in the shapes of toilet paper, onions and Crocs shoes being sliced open, only to shockingly reveal that their insides are flour, sugar and frosting.<\/p>\n

A clip-compilation first posted by BuzzFeed\u2019s Tasty shows the work of cake and sugar artist Tuba Ge\u00e7kil, who is based in Turkey, sparking the \u201cIs it Cake?\u201d meme frenzy online. Another \u201ctraumatic\u201d video, showing surprise cake versions of breakfast sandwiches, eggplants, oysters and lemons highlighted the work of husband-and-wife baking duo Natalie and Dave Sideserf, of Sideserf Cake Studio in Texas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have chained my roommate to the kitchen table. i will be cutting him open to see if he\u2019s a cake. he says he isn\u2019t, but that\u2019s exactly something a cake would say,\u201d writes one Twitter user, in disbelief over the duplicitous delicacies.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuys i\u2019m genuinely distressed i can\u2019t take this s\u2009-\u2009-\u2009t anymore,\u201d writes another.<\/p>\n

The madness travel<\/a>ed over to TikTok. \u201cIt\u2019s been plaguing my mind. I can\u2019t get away from it. Every thought is whether or not something I come in contact with is a cake and it\u2019s haunting me and I can\u2019t get away from it,\u201d says @thebeesdaddy. \u201cSo for my own peace of mind I\u2019ve decided that I\u2019ll be walking around with a knife and stabbing everything I come into contact with just to make sure that it is not a cake.\u201d<\/p>\n

One user turned the gut-wrenching \u201cIs it Cake?\u201d meme trend into a horror film.<\/p>\n
