HBO Max\u00a0is going back to Las Vegas. The streaming service has renewed the Hacks<\/em> TV series for a second season. A premiere date will be announced at some point in the future.<\/p>\n

A single-camera comedy, the Hacks<\/em> TV show stars Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins with Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Paul W. Downs, Mark Indelicato, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Meg Stalter, and Rose Abdoo in recurring guest star roles. Created by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, the series explores a dark mentorship that forms between legendary Las Vegas comedia<\/a>n Deborah Vance (Smart) and Ava Daniels (Einbinder), a down-on-her-luck comedy writer.<\/p>\n

The first season of 10 episodes debuted on May 13th and the streaming service has been releasing two half-hour installments each Thursday. Here\u2019s the renewal announcement from HBO Max:<\/p>\n

Final Two Episodes Of Season One Debut June 10<\/p>\n

HBO Max announced today that it has renewed the Max Original series HACKS for a second season. The critically-acclaimed comedy has been a top performer on the platform since its debut, consistently ranking in the top ten most viewed titles out of all available content. Season one, from creators Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky, explores a dark mentorship that forms between Deborah Vance (Emmy\u00ae-winner Jean Smart), a legendary Las Vegas comedian, and an entitled, outcast 25-year-old (Hannah Einbinder). The season will conclude this Thursday, June 10 with the final two episodes.<\/p>\n

<\/span>New Yorker hailed the series as \u201cbracingly fresh and wholly original\u201d while Variety noted it was \u201cdestined to be a zeitgeist hit.\u201d Chicago Sun-Times praised it as \u201cinstantly addictive, bitingly hilarious,\u201d New York Times called it \u201ca career best for Smart\u201d and The Hollywood Reporter celebrated Smart, whose \u201cstarring role here allows her to finally showcase her wild versatility.\u201d Entertainment Weekly wrote, \u201cJean Smart and Hannah Einbinder kill as comedians at odds,\u201d and Twitter fans have heralded HACKS as the pinnacle of the \u201cJeanaissance.\u201d<\/p>\n
