\nIt\u2019s the end of an era for Bachelor Nation<\/em>, and we\u2019re all coming to terms with it\u2026 including Chris Harrison<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As we\u2019ve been reporting, the longtime host was benched after defending contestant Rachael Kirkconnell<\/strong> over her plantation pic controversy. On Tuesday, the show announced that Harrison was out for good \u2014 and he supposedly got a HUGE payout to walk away and \u201ckeep his mouth shut.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old addressed his exit on Instagram<\/strong>, writing:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor<\/em> franchise and now I\u2019m excited to start a new chapter. I\u2019m so grateful to Bachelor Nation<\/em> for all of the memories we\u2019ve made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapp<\/a>ing up, the friendships I\u2019ve made will last a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But while Chris\u2019s public statement was pleasant enough, it\u2019s a different story behind the scenes. An insider told Us Weekly<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole situation is frustrating for him. Until things are settled legally and contractually, he can\u2019t even plan his next steps.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Another source for E! News<\/a><\/em> shared:<\/p>\n

\u201cChris is saddened to leave The Bachelor<\/em> franchise. It was his whole life and identity for many years and he was hopeful he would continue his contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

They claimed that the TV personality \u201chas been in tough negotiations for weeks,\u201d and was \u201coptimistic\u201d about coming back. The insider claimed:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe knows he made a mistake but was hopeful forgiveness would be granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

However, as the negotiations dragged on, he \u201chad an idea that his end was coming.\u201d They revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201c[Chris] had a feeling months ago and really came to terms with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Still, the Us<\/em> insider reported Harrison \u201cwas surprised\u201d by the decision, especially when news broke that Bachelor in Paradise<\/em> would be hosted by celebrity guests like David Spade<\/strong> \u2014 which he learned about online like the rest of us. The source admitted:<\/p>\n

\u201cChris had been left in the dark over a lot of behind-the-scenes franchise decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We imagine that was particularly exasperating for someone who was not only host, but a producer of the franchise; though as the E!<\/em> insider noted:<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, the studio decided this was what\u2019s best.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now, Chris is apparently focusing on the future:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is grateful for the conclusion and payout\u2026 He wants to focus on other business ventures.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While the E!<\/em> source claimed the ABC<\/strong> alum \u201chas no plans to return to hosting at the moment,\u201d the Us<\/em> insider divulged:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been getting all kinds of offers on projects, so he\u2019s hoping to lock something in soon. He has a team who has been supporting him this entire time and is working on his next move. He\u2019s hosted other shows in the past so safe to say this isn\u2019t the end of Chris Harrison hosting!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And a second Us<\/em> source insisted he\u2019s already past all the hard feelings, adding:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s elated and relieved to be able to explore future opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Well, we hope that he truly learned something from this experience. At least he has that eight-figure check to soften the blow.<\/p>\n
