“#Fact is, Washington Post ignores truth: Devine<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n

It should be clear by now that the \u201cfact-checking\u201d industry exists only to denigrate conservative ideas and suppress news<\/a> the left doesn\u2019t want reported. It is an ideological weapon thinly disguised as objective analysis of empirical facts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is used by partisan media<\/a> outfits such as The Washington Post to accuse competitors of journalistic malpractice and justify their own errors and omissions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is an insult to journalism. Which brings us to Mr. Pinocchio himself, Glenn Kessler, WaPo\u2019s resident \u201cfact-checker,\u201d last seen claiming Republican Sen. Tim Scott\u2019s slave ancestors had it easy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This week, Kessler attempted to fact-check our front-page story last month revealing fresh evidence that Joe Biden, as vice president, met with foreign clients of his son Hunter, including Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive at the corrupt Ukrainian energy company Burisma, at a dinner in Washington, DC. This was 2015, at a time when Burisma was paying Hunter $83,333 a month to sit on its board.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our story showed that Joe also met Russian and Kazakhstani business associates of Hunter\u2019s at the April 16, 2015, dinner in a private room at Caf\u00e9 Milano.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We cited e-mails from Hunter\u2019s abandoned laptop, including a guest list he prepared a month \u00adbefore the dinner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The White House did not respond to our inquiries at the time and has not disputed the accuracy of our story nor requested a retraction or correction. Nor did the Biden campaign challenge the \u00adauthenticity of the e-mail we published from Pozharskyi last year, thanking Hunter for introducing him to Joe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together,\u201d Pozharskyi wrote, the day after the dinner. \u201cIt\u2019s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler ignores that e-mail.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The dinner is significant \u00adbecause it puts the lie to Joe\u2019s \u00adrepeated claims he knows nothing about Hunter\u2019s lucrative dealings with foreign oligarchs and government officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings,\u201d Joe said in 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Enter Kessler, carrying water for the Biden administration, in a slovenly app<\/a>roximation of journalism that gets basic facts wrong and omits crucial details.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler\u2019s conclusion: \u201cWhen we looked into it, there was less to the story than one might imagine.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Really?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler claimed Pozharskyi was not on the guest list we published. \u201cA tentative guest list for the event . . . did not include Pozharskyi,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSo it\u2019s still unclear how the vice president could have met him, unless he was a last-minute addition.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler\u2019s reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pozharskyi\u2019s first name is \u201cVadym,\u201d as Kessler knows because he wrote so in the third paragraph of his \u201cfact-check.\u201d He seems to have forgotten that fact by the 15th paragraph. \u201cVadym\u201d is how Hunter always refers to Pozharskyi in hundreds of communications that appear on the laptop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cVadym\u201d appears on Hunter\u2019s guest list, which he e-mailed to his business partner Devon Archer, a former adviser to then-Secretary of State John Kerry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We published it in full. Here it is again:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c2 seats for Yelana and husband\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c2 [seats for] you and me.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cVadym.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cTotal 14\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hunter has listed only 13 people but counted a total of 14 guests. Archer knows who the unnamed 14th guest is: \u201cObviously save a seat for your guy,\u201d he tells Hunter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a pretty good guess to say \u201cyour guy\u201d is Joe, aka the \u201cBig Guy\u201d who is mentioned in numerous e-mails on Hunter\u2019s laptop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One damning 2017 e-mail laid out a 10 percent equity stake for the \u201cBig Guy,\u201d to be held by Hunter, in a firm seeded with $10 million by the Chinese investment conglomerate CEFC.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hunter\u2019s former business partner Tony Bobulinski, one of three recipients of the e-mail, has verified that \u201cthe Big Guy\u201d is Joe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Kessler and his organ are not interested in that story.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Instead, he tries to downplay the significance of Joe\u2019s presence at the dinner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Biden only dropped by briefly,\u201d he writes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That\u2019s like being a little bit pregnant.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no discussion of politics or business.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not how it works, as Kessler well knows. The Big Guy just has to show up. It\u2019s all \u201chigh-level.\u201d All that matters is for Hunter to demonstrate his pull.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler cites previous denials from Biden flacks quoted by USA Today last December. \u201cThe Biden campaign, after a comprehensive review, had said a meeting never took place between Joe Biden and Pozharskyi.\u201d Seriously.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But then Kessler quotes a \u201cWhite House individual with knowledge of Joe Biden\u2019s schedules\u201d who appears to have confirmed Joe\u2019s \u201cdrop-by\u201d at Caf\u00e9 Milano that night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Talk about burying the lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler asserts that it\u2019s a \u201cmystery . . . why the drop-by was not listed on Joe Biden\u2019s schedule.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

But his White House source has the answer! Joe only decided to do the \u201cdrop by\u201d at the last minute \u201cafter the schedule was completed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yet, as Kessler knows, since he quoted from one of the e-mails we published, Hunter told guests more than two weeks before the dinner that his father would be there. \u201cDad will be there but keep that between us for now,\u201d Hunter wrote on March 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler also attempts to put a \u00adreligious gloss on the meeting, claiming Joe only went to see one guest, Father Alex Karloutsos, then head of the Greek Orthodox Church, who was at the dinner with his son Michael, with whom Hunter at the time was discussing doing a business deal in Greece.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Biden, a Roman Catholic, also has a long history of working with the Greek Orthodox Church.\u201d Please.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler tries to characterize Joe\u2019s appearance at the dinner as brief, religious in nature and \u00adfocused on alleviating world hunger.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He quotes a guest we named, Rick Leach, a longtime friend of the Biden family, the founder of the American charity World Food Program USA, where Hunter used to serve as board member and sometime-chairman.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three members of WFP USA were on the guest list, but that was not the purpose of the dinner, as Hunter suggests in an e-mail to Michael Karloutsos before the dinner: \u201cThe reason for the dinner is ostensibly to discuss food security.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kessler knows what \u201costensibly\u201d means.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hardly a forgettable event when the vice president takes a motorcade to Georgetown and walks into Caf\u00e9 Milano with his Secret Service entourage to disappear into a private room to meet all those foreigners.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Kessler doesn\u2019t query his source on all the contradictory statements that have emanated from the Biden camp.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the White House failed to respond to our questions, it took two weeks to mount this feeble defense. They just had to take their pick of useful idiots to feed it to.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
