{"id":271244,"date":"2021-06-10T18:58:04","date_gmt":"2021-06-10T15:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/lobsters-doused-with-pot-smoke-to-test-pain-during-cooking\/"},"modified":"2021-06-10T18:58:04","modified_gmt":"2021-06-10T15:58:04","slug":"lobsters-doused-with-pot-smoke-to-test-pain-during-cooking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/lobsters-doused-with-pot-smoke-to-test-pain-during-cooking\/","title":{"rendered":"#Lobsters doused with pot smoke to test pain during cooking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Lobsters doused with pot smoke to test pain during cooking<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>This brings new meaning to putting lobsters in the \u201cpot.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>US researchers redefined \u201clobster pot\u201d after <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biorxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2021.05.24.445508v1.full\">testing whether dosing lobsters<\/a> with marijuana smoke could ease their pain during cooking them. <\/p>\n<p>To test whether \u201cexposing lobster to cannabis smoke\u201d reduced their trauma, the scientists placed several store-bought Maine lobsters in a sealed box filled with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) \u2014 the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana \u2014 for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. The humane restauranteur based her questionable painkilling methods on studies claiming that the arthropods possess cannabinoid receptors that can make them feel the effects of Mary Jane,<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bangordailynews.com\/2018\/09\/19\/news\/maine-lobster-pound-uses-marijuana-to-calm-crustaceans-before-boil\/#:~:text=Charlotte%20Gill%2C%20owner%20of%20Charlotte's,goes%20in%20the%20cooking%20pot.&amp;text=The%20lobster%2C%20named%20Roscoe%2C%20appeared,for%20the%20next%20three%20weeks.\"> the Bangor Daily News reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything that we put to death, it should be done in the least traumatic way,\u201d said Gill, adding that hotboxing lobsters even makes their meat tastier, as they were calmer before cooking.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers\u2019 experiment essentially disproved the half-baked theory floated by Gill, who was once so confident in her anesthesia technique that she even <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SawyersLobsterPound\/posts\/2123652550992225\">lambasted PETA detractors<\/a> for not using marijuana when they allegedly euthanized animals. <\/p>\n<p>Responding to the animal advocate\u2019s criticism over her lobster-killing business, the ballsy foodie had written, \u201cIn my opinion, as one of the largest organized euthanizers of animals on the planet. Perhaps you should consider taking a page from our book and incorporating cannabis into YOUR practices as well?
