People seem to genuinely dig the show, and sure, most of them are probably watching to ogle <strong>Henry Cavill<\/strong>, but that counts, too, damn it. But if you\u2019re a fan of both the games and the show, and you\u2019ve spent your days hoping for some sort of crossover event, you just might be on the cusp of having your wish granted. So you better think up a better wish, fast. Or it could mean something completely different. For instance: there could be a new\u00a0<em>Witcher<\/em>\u00a0game on the way, and it could somehow crossover with the TV series. This is all wild speculation on my part, but speculation is all I have, so tread softly because you tread on my dreams.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Witcher<\/em> video game series ended with\u00a0<em>The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em> in 2017, although there were two DLC packs,\u00a0<em>The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt \u2013 Hearts of Stone<\/em> and\u00a0<em>The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt \u2013 Blood and Wine<\/em>, as well as a spin-off,\u00a0<em>Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales<\/em>. But a new game that somehow ties into the TV series would no doubt excite fans. The streaming service gave the show a second eight-episode season before the first season even dropped. And according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Witcher_(TV_series)#cite_note-76\">Parrot Analytics<\/a>, <em>The Witcher<\/em>, in its US debut, was the third most \u201cin demand\u201d original streaming series, behind <em>Stranger Things<\/em> and <em>The Mandalorian<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix wants\u00a0<em>The Witcher<\/em> to be their latest big franchise, so they\u2019re all in. They\u2019ve ordered an animated spin-off film titled <strong><em>The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf<\/em><\/strong>, which is due out sometime this year. The movie focuses on \u201cthe origin story of Geralt\u2019s mentor and fellow witcher Vesemir.\u201d Then there\u2019s the live-action prequel series\u00a0<strong><em>The Witcher: Blood Origin<\/em><\/strong>, which has this synopsis: \u201c1200 years before Geralt of Rivia, the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged into one, and the first Witcher came to be.\u201d No word on when we might see that \u2013 the COVID-19 pandemic kind of messed up the timeline for all this stuff.
