Vice President Kamala Harris pounded the pavement for Pride in Washington, DC, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The VP made a brief surprise app<\/a>earance at the Capital Pride Walk and Rally Saturday, wearing a pink blazer and \u201clove is love\u201d shirt, according to local outlet NBC 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Harris was joined by husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who donned a shirt with rainbow lettering. The couple marched with the crowd toward a Capital Pride rally for about a block, the local station said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to make sure that our transgender community and our youth are all protected. We need, still, protections around employment and housing,\u201d Harris said, in a brief remark touting the Equality Act. \u201cThere is so much more work to do, and I know we are committed.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Biden earlier this month issued a proclamation in recognition of the nationwide Pride events.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn doing so, they are opening hearts and minds, and laying the foundation for a more just and equitable America.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
