Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has shared a message from the hospital with his teammates after he collapsed in a terrifying scene during a match at soccer\u2019s European Championship.<\/p>\n

Eriksen, 29, was recuperating Sunday at a Copenhagen hospital after the terrifying medical episode during the match against Finland in Parken Stadium, the Danish Football Association said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning we have spoken to Christian Eriksen, who has sent his greetings to his\u00a0teammates. His condition is stable, and he continues to be hospitalized for further examination,\u201d the association said, CNN reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His collapse on Saturday forced the game<\/a> to be temporarily suspended while medics worked frenetically to give him chest compressions.<\/p>\n

Eriksen\u2019s teammates choked back tears and prayed as they formed a protective circle around him to shield him from the view of the around 15,000 fans in shocked silence.<\/p>\n

Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen said that Eriksen nearly slipped away.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was breathing, and I could feel his pulse. But suddenly that changed,\u201d Boesen said Saturday. \u201cAnd as everyone saw, we started giving him CPR.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was eventually carried off on a stretcher to a loud ovation, with his teammates walking by his side.<\/p>\n

The Union of European Football Associations\u00a0later announced the game would resume, with Finland going on to win 1-0.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course you can\u2019t play a game with such feelings,\u201d Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand said. \u201cWhat we tried to do was incredible. It\u2019s incredible that the players managed to go out and try to play the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n
