The murdered son of a prominent South Carolina lawyer acted so strangely when he was drunk that his friends allegedly gave his boozed-up alter ego another name.<\/p>\n

Paul Murdaugh \u2014 who was facing trial in the alleged boozy death of 19-year-old Mallory Beach when he and his mother were shot to death on the family\u2019s property last week \u2014 was reportedly called \u201cTimmy\u201d when he drank.<\/p>\n

Investigators are now probing whether the 22-year-old man was the intended target of his and his mother\u2019s murders.<\/p>\n

Murdaugh\u2019s past drunken antics were described in a court deposition in a civil lawsuit against the young man, who was allegedly under the influence when a boat he drove crashed and killed Beach in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a different name because he turns into a completely \u2014 totally different person,\u201d said Anthony Cook, Beach\u2019s boyfriend and Murdaugh\u2019s, said in a deposition obtained by The Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo somebody will say, \u2018All right. Here comes Timmy. We got to go,\u2019 \u201d Cook said.<\/p>\n

The deposition was part of a civil case filed against Murdaugh by Beach\u2019s family, the report said.<\/p>\n

Murdaugh had strip<\/a>ped down to his underwear on the night of the boat accident as arguments broke out among six people onboard, Cook reportedly said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started taking his clothes off during one of the arguments, and it is 40 degrees outside,\u201d Cook said, according to the Mail. \u201cI\u2019ve seen him do it a few times when gets drinks. I don\u2019t know why he does that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some passengers had urged Murdaugh to take the boat home, but he drove instead in circles, according to the report. At one point, Murdaugh either pushed or slapp<\/a>ed another passenger \u2014 whom the Mail identified as his girlfriend \u2014 according to the deposition.<\/p>\n

The boat was in the waters near Hilton Head Island when it crashed and killed Beach, a University of South Carolina student, reports said.<\/p>\n

Murdaugh and his mom \u2013 52-year-old Maggie Murdaugh \u2013 were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds Monday near a dog kennel on family property in Islandton, police said.<\/p>\n

Sources told\u00a0The Island Packet that Paul was the apparent target, shot at least twice with a shotgun while Maggie was killed with what appears to be an assault rifle.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n

The Murdaugh family has included a long line of local elected prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Paul\u2019s father, Alex, works for the prestigious law firm Peters, Murdaugh, Parker, Eltzroth and Detrick \u2013 which was founded by Randolph Murdaugh in 1910.<\/p>\n

Randolph Murdaugh III, 81, died just three days after the family tragedy, the law firm said.<\/p>\n

The Beach family issued a statement after Paul and his mother\u2019s deaths, according to a report.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving suffered the devastating loss of their own daughter, the family prays that the Murdaughs can find some level of peace from this tragic loss. They would like the family and the community to know that their thoughts and continued prayers are with the Murdaughs,\u201d the\u00a0family said in a statement<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0WTOC 11.<\/p>\n
