Google has some good news<\/a> for the cash-strapp<\/a>ed or tight-fisted: Workspace is now available for free to every user.<\/p>\n

Starting today, anyone with a Google account can use the integrated platform (formerly known as G Suite) to collaborate on the search giant\u2019s productivity apps. <\/p>\n

The service essentially provides a more integrated system for using the likes of Gmail, Chat, Calendar, Drive, and Docs.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not likely to revolutionize your user experience, but it will allow you to access Google apps in one central spot, rather than having to jump between them. Workspace also introduces some nifty extra features, like smart suggestions in documents and the new \u201cSpaces\u201d\u00a0chatrooms.<\/p>\n

In a blog post<\/a>, Google said the move will \u201cmake it easy for people to stay connected, get organized and achieve more together, whether it\u2019s advancing a cause, planning your family reunion, assigning next steps for the PTA or discussing this month\u2019s book club pick.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If you wanna check it, here\u2019s how to set Workspace up:<\/p>\n

  1. Open Gmail on your computer.<\/li>\n
  2. Click the Settings icon near the top of the page and\u00a0then \u201cView all settings.\u201d<\/li>\n
  3. Tap \u201cChat and Meet,\u201d and then turn on Google Chat.<\/li>\n
  4. Hit \u201cSave changes.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You\u2019re in \u2014 but if you want a more premium experience, you\u2019ll have to pay for Google\u2019s forthcoming subscription service \u201cWorkspace Individual.\u201d<\/p>\n

    The Big G says this solution will introduce extra features, \u201cincluding smart booking services, professional video meetings, personalized email marketing and much more.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The search giant is yet to reveal pricing for the product, but says it will\u00a0roll out \u201csoon in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and Japan. You can\u00a0<\/span>sign up here<\/a>\u00a0to receive updates on the Workspace Individual. I\u2019m not planning to splash out on that, but I\u2019m happy to get my hands on the free version.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
