{"id":274439,"date":"2021-06-14T21:19:10","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T18:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/eric-adams-leads-nyc-mayoral-race-poll-shows\/"},"modified":"2021-06-14T21:19:10","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T18:19:10","slug":"eric-adams-leads-nyc-mayoral-race-poll-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/eric-adams-leads-nyc-mayoral-race-poll-shows\/","title":{"rendered":"#Eric Adams leads NYC mayoral race, poll shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Eric Adams leads NYC mayoral race, poll shows<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams has a solid lead in the crowded Democratic primary for mayor, with a seven-point edge over former Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia, according to a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/maristpoll.marist.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/20210612_WNBC_Telemundo-47_POLITICO_Marist-Poll_NYC-NOS-and-Tables_RCV_20210611256-3.pdf\">new poll released<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Adams garnered backing from 24 percent of the 800 likely Democratic voters, followed by 17 percent for Garcia, the NBC\/Politico poll conducted by Marist College found.<\/p>\n<p>Former City Hall legal counsel Maya Wiley was third with 15 percent support while entrepreneur Andrew Yang, once a front-runner, slid to fourth with 13 percent.<\/p>\n<p>It was the first survey in which Yang had dropped beyond third place.<\/p>\n<p>No other candidate cleared 10 percent. City Comptroller Scott Stringer \u2014 whose campaign was rocked by two sexual misconduct accusations \u2014 captured just 7 percent support.<\/p>\n<p>Retired Citigroup executive Ray McGuire, former federal and city housing chief Shaun Donovan and ex-not-for profit executive Diane Morales received 3 percent support each. R<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er Paperboy Prince registered\u00a0one percent support.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And the number of undecided voters is shrinking, down to 13 percent in the poll.<\/p>\n<p>Since no candidate cleared 50 percent of the vote, the winner of the primary would be selected by the new ranked-choice voting system, where voters can rank candidates one through five. He was way up there but he has not been able to sustain that support,\u201d Miringoff said.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also revealed stark demographic divides undergirding the eight candidate 2021 Democratic primary race.<\/p>\n<p>Adams has managed to consolidate much of the city\u2019s politically powerful black voting base, winning 43 percent of their votes in the poll. That\u2019s four times as much as the next closest candidate, Maya Wiley, who captured just 11 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Adams is also cleaning up with right-leaning and centrist voters in the primary, capturing 42 percent of voters who describe themselves as conservative or very conservative and 29 percent of moderates, the poll finds.<br \/><strong><br \/><\/strong>Meanwhile, Garcia appears to be consolidating the Big Apple\u2019s other major primary voting block \u2014 white voters. She captured 28 percent of whites polled, well ahead of Wiley, who is in second place with 18 percent.<\/p>\n<p>A good chunk of Garcia\u2019s support appears to be coming from the political base of scandal-scarred Stringer.<br \/><strong><br \/><\/strong>She is winning 28 percent of the vote in Manhattan \u2014 compared to just an astonishingly low seven percent for Stringer, who previously served as Manhattan borough president and repped the Upper West Side for years in the state Assembly.<br \/><strong><br \/><\/strong>Not surprisingly, the survey found that Wiley\u2019s strongest base of support is among voters who describe themselves as \u201cvery liberal,\u201d winning 34 percent of those voters, compared to the 17 percent netted by Garcia, who placed second in the category.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia leads among voters who describe themselves as \u201cliberal\u201d \u2014 the option offered between \u201cmoderate\u201d and \u201cvery liberal,\u201d with 25 percent of those voters.\u00a0\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
