Creating a named range doesn\u2019t overwrite the original cell references (A1, A2, etc.), but it does make it easier to refer to these cells (and the data contained within them) when you\u2019re adding new formulas.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Using_the_Name_Box\"><\/span>Using the Name Box<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The quickest way to add a named range to Google Sheets is to use the name box. This is the box, positioned to the left of the formula bar, that shows you the cell reference for the cell or cells that are currently selected in your spreadsheet.<\/p>\n<p>To begin,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/sheets.google.com\/\">open your Google Sheets spreadsheet<\/a>\u00a0and select a new column or row.
