Actress Lisa Banes, who app<\/a>eared in the movie \u201cGone Girl,\u201d died on Monday due to injuries sustained after getting struck by a hit-and-run scooter driver on the Upper West Side, a source said. She was 65.<\/p>\n

Banes, a Los Angeles resident visiting the Big Apple for the first time since the pandemic began, was on her way to meet her wife Kathryn Kranhold for a dinner party when she was mowed down by a red and black scooter on June 4 on West 64th and Amsterdam Avenue, friends and police have said.<\/p>\n

She suffered a traumatic brain injury and was unable to recover. <\/p>\n

An NYPD spokesperson said Monday night that no arrests have been made in the case. The scooter was last seen going northbound on Amsterdam Avenue. <\/p>\n

Born in Ohio and raised in Colorado, Banes attended Julliard before launching a long and storied career in New York and Hollywood, appearing in dozens of TV shows and movies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Banes married Kranhold, a former Wall Street journal writer, at an intimate ceremony roughly four years ago at City Hall.<\/p>\n

On the small screen, the actress had roles on \u201cOne Life to Live,\u201d \u201cChina Beach,\u201d \u201cThe Royal Pains,\u201d and \u201cNashville.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the big screen, she was Tom Cruise\u2019s older love interest in 1988\u2019s \u201cCocktail.\u201d In \u201cGone Girl,\u201d she was the mother of the missing woman, played by Rosamund Pike.<\/p>\n

After reading the script for \u201cGone Girl,\u201d Banes thought, \u201c\u2018Oh, I\u2019m right for this,\u2019\u201d she said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards. <\/p>\n

Banes said her character in the film seemed to be a natural fit for her. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just have an affinity for her,\u201d she told the news<\/a>paper from the red carpet. \u201cIt seeped in right away.\u201d <\/p>\n

On Broadway, she appeared in \u201cPresent Laughter\u201d and \u201cHigh Society\u201d among other plays. <\/p>\n

She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for best featured actress in a play in 1984 for \u201cIsn\u2019t it Romantic.\u201d<\/p>\n

She won a Theatre World Award in 1981 for the off-Broadway play \u201cLook Back in Anger\u201d and an Obie in 1982 for her role in \u201cMy Sister in This House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a great character,\u201d friend Cynthia Crossen had told The Post following the crash.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s funny. She\u2019s fun. She\u2019s vibrant. She\u2019s just a person of many talents and interests.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
