Gov. Andrew Cuomo is set to announce Tuesday that New York will lift \u201cvirtually all\u201d COVID-19 restrictions, after the state on Monday cleared the threshold of 70 percent of adult residents receiving a vaccine dose, The Post has learned. <\/p>\n

Cuomo will make the announcement during his \u201cfinal\u201d COVID-19 briefing of the pandemic, a source said. Cities across the state, including in Nyack in the Hudson Valley, will hold fireworks shows Tuesday evening to celebrate the milestone, sources said.<\/p>\n

Capacity restrictions will be lifted in most settings, and mask and cleaning protocols will also be relaxed. Restrictions will be maintained in some areas, such as nursing homes, hospitals and schools, the governor has previously said.<\/p>\n

The third-term Democratic governor will hold the press conference at 12:15 p.m. at One World Trade Center, where he will not take questions from reporters, according to his public schedule. <\/p>\n

Cuomo on June 7 first announced that \u201cvirtually all\u201d state-mandated COVID-19 rules in the Empire State would soon be a thing of the past. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we hit 70 percent, then I feel comfortable saying to the people of this state we can relax virtually all restrictions,\u201d he said at the time. <\/p>\n

On Monday, the governor said, citing CDC data, that 69.9 percent of New York adults had received at least one shot, putting New York a hair shy of the 70 percent benchmark.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
