“#Megan Boone Leaving as Series<\/a> Regular After Season 8<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

How will The Blacklist<\/em><\/a> continue without Elizabeth Keen? That\u2019s the question for Season 9 app<\/a>arently.<\/p>\n

Megan Boone, who has starred on the NBC drama since it premiered in 2013, is exiting as a series regular at the end of the current eighth season, Deadline<\/em><\/a> reports. (The finale airs June 23.) Fortunately for fans, this wasn\u2019t a surprise and Liz will be getting a proper exit storyline. This news<\/a> also comes as Liz spent some time this season as a fugitive while Boone was missing from a significant portion of the episodes. She resurfaced in the April 23 show.<\/p>\n

There are only two episodes left of the season, \u201cNachalo\u201d (\u201cThe Beginning\u201d in Russian) and \u201cKonets\u201d (\u201cThe Ending\u201d), so fans may very well get a taste of how The Blacklist<\/em> will say goodbye to Liz starting with the former on June 16. Heading into these episodes, Raymond Reddington (James Spader) has told Liz he\u2019s the elusive spy she\u2019s been hunting, N-13, and now he\u2019s taking her to Latvia with the promise of the answers she\u2019s been seeking \u2014 the Blacklist.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese last two episodes are really sort of companion pieces,\u201d series creator Jon Bokenkamp told TV Insider. \u201c[With] the next episode, \u2018Nachalo,\u2019 we\u2019re going to go back to the very beginning and unpack answers to eight years worth of questions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The finale \u201cvery much is an ending,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt may not be the ending of the series, but it\u2019s very much the ending of a story we\u2019ve been telling for eight years.\u201d That story, we now know, is at least partly about Liz.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll have to tune in to see how The Blacklist<\/em> is going to continue on without Liz and<\/em> Boone. After all, with Boone leaving, the only original cast members (presumably) continuing on for Season 9 are Spader, Diego Klattenhoff (Donald Ressler), and Harry Lennix (Harold Cooper).<\/p>\n
