For the Yankees, the most indispensable player \u2014 the one whose loss would most hurt their division-title chances \u2014 is Gleyber Torres. The other seven:<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Angels_Shohei_Ohtani\"><\/span>Angels: Shohei Ohtani<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Mike Trout is the majors\u2019 best player. But Ohtani gives Los Angeles a chance to have an ace \u2014 plus a designated hitter with a .500 slugging percentage. <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"As_Marcus_Semien\"><\/span>A\u2019s: Marcus Semien<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Oakland rises with many interchangeable parts, but the left side of its infield \u2014 Semien and third baseman Matt Chapman \u2014 are brilliant players. The nod goes to Semien for indispensable while playing the more important position.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Astros_Justin_Verlander\"><\/span>Astros: Justin Verlander<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With Gerrit Cole gone and Lance McCullers Jr. returning after missing a season following Tommy John surgery, the 2019 AL Cy Young winner becomes more vital. Verlander is healed from March groin surgery.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Indians_Francisco_Lindor\"><\/span>Indians: Francisco Lindor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>And the clock is ticking on how long Cleveland is holding onto its best player, who is getting more expensive and becomes a free agent after next season.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Rays_Austin_Meadows\"><\/span>Rays: Austin Meadows<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The true answer is no one because no club works harder to not be beholden to one individual. But for a team with so many interchangeable offensive pieces, Meadows has the highest ceiling as an offensive performer.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Twins_Taylor_Rogers\"><\/span>Twins: Taylor Rogers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There is so much lineup depth that Minnesota could withstand any loss. The rotation got deeper with Homer Bailey, Rich Hill and Kenta Maeda joining Jose Berrios, Jake Odorizzi and Michael Pineda (currently suspended).
