His last movie role was in 2018\u2019s <em>High Life<\/em> with Robert Pattinson as the lead, and previously starred as Jimi Hendrix in the 2013 biopic <em>Jimi: All Is by My Side<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2020, Andr\u00e9 3000 detailed a near-death childhood incident for journalist Mike Ayers\u2019 book titled <em>One Last Song: Conversations on Life, Death, and Music.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was younger, me and my friend were in a car accident,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe were riding with my friend\u2019s mom, but we were so young, we didn\u2019t know what happened until we woke up in the hospital. I didn\u2019t know. If we didn\u2019t have that cell phone, we would have been out there for a minute \u2014 and might have died. Who knows. I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s a near-death experience.
