That\u2019s weird enough on its own, but it\u2019s even weirder when you realize that star<strong>\u00a0Isabelle Fuhrman<\/strong> is reprising her role even though she\u2019s much older now. It\u2019s not entirely clear just yet how the film is going to sell this idea, but according to Furhman, the end results are going to shock audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Released in 2009,\u00a0<em>Orphan<\/em> was helmed by art-trash genius\u00a0<strong>Jaume Collet-Serra<\/strong>. It starred modern-day scream queen Vera Farmiga, as well as\u00a0Peter Sarsgaard and Isabelle Fuhrman. In the film, Farmiga and Sarsgaard play a married couple who recently lost their third child during childbirth. Determined to have one more kid in their lives, the couple decides to adopt. The child they adopt is Esther (Furhman), a 9-year-old girl from Russia.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->At first, Esther seems like the perfect child. She\u2019s well behaved, intelligent, artistically talented, and overly pleasant. She charms her new parents from the get-go. But\u00a0<em>Orphan<\/em> is a horror movie, and soon it\u2019s revealed that Esther isn\u2019t so innocent. In fact, she\u2019s downright homicidal. Killer kid <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> are a staple in the horror genre, but\u00a0<em>Orphan<\/em> throws in a whopper of a twist. Esther isn\u2019t a child at all. She\u2019s a 33-year-old woman with\u00a0hypopituitarism, a rare hormonal disorder that stunted her physical growth and caused proportional dwarfism. She\u2019s spent most of her life in an insane asylum, and when she\u2019s not doing that, she\u2019s posing as a child to infiltrate unsuspecting families.<\/p>\n<p>While I admit this all sounds very silly,\u00a0<em>Orphan<\/em> is a total blast, and one of my all-time favorite horror flicks. I revisit it every Halloween season. And now, it\u2019s getting a prequel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-644050 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/orphan-prequel-Isabelle-Fuhrman-700x321.jpg\" alt=\"orphan prequel Isabelle Fuhrman\" width=\"700\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/orphan-prequel-Isabelle-Fuhrman-700x321.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/orphan-prequel-Isabelle-Fuhrman-360x165.jpg 360w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/orphan-prequel-Isabelle-Fuhrman-768x352.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/orphan-prequel-Isabelle-Fuhrman.jpg 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_is_Orphan_First_Kill_Even_Possible\"><\/span><strong>How is Orphan: First Kill Even Possible?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A sequel wouldn\u2019t be possible because (spoiler alert) Esther dies at the end of\u00a0<em>Orphan<\/em>.\u00a0 So we\u2019re getting a prequel called <em>Orphan: First Kill<\/em>, directed by\u00a0<em>The Boy<\/em> filmmaker\u00a0<strong>William Brent Bell<\/strong> and co-starring <strong>Julia Styles<\/strong>, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> by\u00a0<strong>David Coggeshall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But a prequel seems like a very strange idea. For one thing, we already know the twist \u2013 Esther isn\u2019t a kid, she\u2019s an adult. For another, Isabelle Fuhrman is reprising her role as Esther. Furhman was 12 when she shot\u00a0<em>Orphan<\/em>, so it was easy for her to pass as a child passing as an adult. But the actress is 24 now, which is bound to make things a little difficult. But according to Furhman, that\u2019s all part of\u00a0<em>Orphan: First Kill<\/em>\u2018s plan.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->\u201c[<em>First Kill<\/em>\u00a0is] definitely not what I think most people will expect, which I think is really exciting and what really drew me to even coming back to play that role,\u201d Furhman told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/orphan-2-first-kill-esther-isabelle-fuhrman-movie-history\/\">Collider<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAnd also, what I think is most exciting about it is it\u2019s something that\u2019s never been done cinematically. There\u2019s never been an adult actress who reprised a role she played as child. And that was exceptionally difficult and really fun to do, because when I was a kid and I played Esther, I was constantly playing a 33-year-old hiding herself as a kid while I was also 10, and this time, it was like, \u2018here\u2019s a little weight off my shoulders,\u2019 since I just have to pretend I\u2019m 10, because I\u2019m already an adult.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Furhman added: \u201cI think people will be shocked by that story. It\u2019s very different from what most people would expect and [Julia Stiles] is absolutely incredible in it, and we had a lot of fun making the movie together. It\u2019s definitely a story about the two of us and our relationship, and Esther\u2019s way that she came to the United States and how she found herself there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<em>Orphan: First Kill<\/em>, \u201cLeena Klammer (aka Esther) orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>s to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena\u2019s new life as \u2018Esther\u2019 comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I love the first movie so much that I\u2019ll definitely be checking\u00a0<em>First Kill<\/em> out, although I\u2019d feel a lot better if\u00a0Jaume Collet-Serra were directing again.
