Paris Jackson<\/strong> has faced some major challenges in her life as a victim of intense cyberbullying after the passing of her father Michael Jackson<\/strong>. For years, she\u2019s struggled with her mental health, recently admitting to suffering \u201cstandard PTSD\u201d from the paparazzi frenzy that used to track her every move as the daughter of the King of Pop.<\/p>\n

Now, in a unique, one-on-one interview with Willow Smith<\/strong> for Red Table Talk<\/em>, the musician is opening up about her past suicide attempts, while also acknowledging that suicide rates are at an all-time high amid the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her lowest point in 2013, in which she attempted suicide multiple times, including an overdose on painkillers and cutting her wrists, the singer shared:<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people do feel regret when they try and attempt suicide. Like a last-minute regret. There have been times where I did and times where I didn\u2019t, where I was upset that it didn\u2019t work. But I can say, several years later, that I\u2019m really grateful that it didn\u2019t. Things have gotten better.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thank goodness for that. When asked what \u201cstarted that emotional spiral,\u201d the 23-year-old reflected:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was everything, man. I think a lot of it was just not knowing who I was, being a young girl who was going through puberty and probably just a lot of my situation and a lot of pressure. It was really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Comments from people around the world certainly didn\u2019t help, as Jackson admitted:<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople would tell me to kill myself every day. And I was depressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thankfully, there was hope for The Space Between<\/em> lead, but she said it took a \u201cmorbid\u201d realization to get to a point where her mental health was more stable, telling her childhood friend:<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially, I think it was \u2014 it\u2019s kind of morbid \u2014 the radical acceptance that it just wasn\u2019t meant to be. Just like, \u2018OK, I\u2019ve tried and tried and tried, and it\u2019s really not working. Maybe it\u2019s just not my time, and that sucks.\u2019 And for a while, I was just like, \u2018I\u2019ll just wait it out.\u2019 Which is so dark!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wow. No kidding, that may be the darkest thing we\u2019ve heard in some time.<\/p>\n

One particular evening, however, Paris experienced a shift \u2014 when she felt self-love for the very first time. After having a \u201creally rough night,\u201d the Gringo<\/em> alum went to pray before bed, but ended up giving herself a bit of a pep talk:<\/p>\n

\u201cI experienced self-love for the first time in my entire life. It was this really corny moment between me, myself, and the mirror\u2026 It was so intense. Just a lot of gratitude. It took a really long time to get to that point.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wow\u2026 We\u2019re so glad to hear Paris has found tools that help her feel more at ease and worthy of love. Overcoming mental heath struggles is a journey, and no one\u2019s path is the same, but we hope the vocalist\u2019s vulnerable truth helps others suffering know things get better.<\/p>\n
