A top Utah prosecutor apologized for telling a local lawmaker to \u201cdie and go to hell\u201d after the candidate interrupted the lawyer\u2019s afternoon nap with his \u201cwife and downstairs tenant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Assistant Attorney General<\/a> Steven Wuthrich\u2019s diatribe was sent in a profanity-laced email that Salt Lake City Councilman Darin Mano shared on Facebook<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a no soliciting sign on my door for a reason. On a nice Saturday afternoon myself and my wife and my downstairs tenant were all taking a lovely siesta when some motherf\u2014ing ignorant son-of-b\u2014h rang our doorbell and put your piece of s\u2013t unwanted solicitation in our door waking the dogs and waking us and the neighbors with an uproar,\u201d the screenshot of Wuthrich\u2019s email said<\/p>\n

\u201cI will do everything in my power to see you never get elected to any office higher than dog catcher. I hate you I hate your family I hate your solicitors I hate your contributors I hate your sponsors,\u201d Wuthrich wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cKindly die and go to hell motherf\u2014-r!!!!,\u201d the note concluded.<\/p>\n

Mano, who is Asian-American and gay wrote, \u201cI must stand up against hate speech and call it out when I see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThough the email I received did not mention my race or sexuality, it did feel personal,\u201d Mano wrote.<\/p>\n

The state attorney initially declined a request for comment from the Salt Lake Tribune<\/a>, but issued a statement after they published the story, the report said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast Saturday, I was awakened from a nap and reacted with undue anger based solely on the interruption to my tranquility,\u201d Wuthrich wrote, according to the paper. <\/p>\n

\u201cSince then, I have regretted the ferocity and language of that email. My words were uncivil and unprofessional. From me personally, I apologize to Salt Lake City Councilman Darin Mano and his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mano was selected to fill a vacant seat in the city council last year. He\u2019s running to be the first Asian-American elected lawmaker in Salt Lake City, according to the news<\/a>paper.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
