Hosoda, the filmmaker behind 2018\u2019s Oscar-nominated\u00a0<em>Mirai<\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/anime-manga\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"Anime || Manga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anime<\/a> masterpieces like\u00a0<em>The Girl Who Leapt Through Time<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Wolf Children<\/em>, is back to his old tricks with\u00a0<strong><em>Belle<\/em><\/strong>, a digital spin on\u00a0<em>Beauty and the Beast<\/em> that returns to Hosoda\u2019s urban vision of the internet that he first explored in <em>Digimon<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Summer Wars<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 but with a new furry husband, of course.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Belle_Trailer\"><\/span>Belle Trailer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"BELLE (2021) - 90 Second Trailer [HQ]\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ChneY1MSVFw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Every Mamoru Hosoda film is worth watching, even if he doesn\u2019t have the global profile that anime auteurs like Makoto Shinkai (<em>Your Name<\/em>) have. Which is a shame, as Hosoda is just as \u2014 if not more \u2014 gifted at the kind of melancholic, genre-defying romance that Shinkai has been praised for, though Hosoda\u2019s films are often a bit more homespun. In recent years he\u2019s taken to exploring his own relationship with fatherhood through his films, but\u00a0<em>Belle<\/em> looks like a return to the kind of wacko sci-fi storytelling that shot him to fame.<\/p>\n<p>Hosoda made his directorial debut with 2000\u2019s\u00a0<em>Digimon: The Movie<\/em>, and would expand on that kind of exploration of the digital world with\u00a0<em>Summer Wars<\/em> \u2014 of which\u00a0<em>Belle<\/em> looks to be a direct continuation. But this time, with a\u00a0<em>Beauty and the Beast<\/em> spin: the film follows a regular 17-year-old country girl who takes on the persona of \u201cBelle\u201d within a popular virtual world, where she meets a Beast that looks like a more intense version of the wolf-inspired romantic leads that have popped up in Hosoda\u2019s films in the past (hey, we all have a type).<\/p>\n<p>GKIDS has gained the North American distribution rights to\u00a0<em>Belle<\/em>, with plans to screen it theatrically this winter in\u00a0both its original Japanese language and an English language dub. This makes\u00a0<em>Belle <\/em>potentially eligible for the 2021 awards season.<\/p>\n<p>Though Pixar and Disney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly dominate the Oscars\u2019 animation category, Hosoda has quite a creative team supporting him on\u00a0<em>Belle<\/em>, who could give him a leg up. Frequent Disney collaborator\u00a0<strong>Jim Kim<\/strong>\u00a0worked to create the titular Belle, while\u00a0<em>Wolfwalkers<\/em>\u00a0directors\u00a0<strong>Tomm Moore\u00a0and\u00a0Ross Stewart<\/strong>\u00a0contributed artwork for the more action-oriented scenes. Rounding out the crew is architect\u00a0<strong>Eric Wong<\/strong>, who designed the film\u2019s city of \u201cU,\u201d and composer\u00a0<strong>Ludvig Forssell<\/strong>, making his film debut after last scoring\u00a0Hideo Kojima\u2019s\u00a0<em>Death Stranding<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the synopsis for\u00a0<em>Belle<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Suzu is a 17-year-old high school student living in a rural village with her father.
