\n The bicycle courier whose after-curfew arrest Thursday night wound up in a viral video was in fact making deliveries \u2014 despite NYPD claims to the contrary, reps for the company where he worked told The Post.<\/p>\n

After facing backlash for arresting the courier \u2014 who as an essential worker is exempt from the 8 p.m. curfew \u2014 police officials claimed the man had not been making deliveries at the time.<\/p>\n

But the app<\/a> he was working for, Caviar, said that\u2019s not true.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur records indicate the courier was doing deliveries during the evening the incident took place,\u201d a spokesperson for DoorDash, which owns Caviar, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The 19-second video clip shows the man screaming at cops while being strip<\/a>ped of an insulated delivery bag and handcuffed, a spectacle that raked in nearly two million views on Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you serious!?\u201d the man says as he was being detained, explaining that he can prove through Caviar that he was allowed to be out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not even doing anything!\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re violating curfew,\u201d a cop responds.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt tells me on the app that I can show you guys something! It tells me that I can show you guys you can\u2019t arrest me!\u201d<\/p>\n

But the police ignored his pleas. After questioning, the man was released without charges, the NYPD said.<\/p>\n

The incident drew condemnation from Mayor Bill de Blasio, who tweeted the arrest was \u201cunacceptable\u201d and that he spoke about it with NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust got off the phone with @NYPDShea after seeing the troubling video of a delivery worker arrested by police while doing his job,\u201d de Blasio tweeted. \u201cThis is NOT acceptable and must stop. Food delivery is essential work and is EXEMPTED from the curfew.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
