{"id":277383,"date":"2021-06-17T19:59:32","date_gmt":"2021-06-17T16:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/chinese-astronauts-board-space-station-module-in-historic-mission\/"},"modified":"2021-06-17T19:59:32","modified_gmt":"2021-06-17T16:59:32","slug":"chinese-astronauts-board-space-station-module-in-historic-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/chinese-astronauts-board-space-station-module-in-historic-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"#Chinese astronauts board space station module in historic mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Chinese astronauts board space station module in historic mission<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>JIUQUAN, China \u2013 Three\u00a0Chinese\u00a0astronauts\u00a0on Thursday flew to an unfinished\u00a0space\u00a0station\u00a0in China\u2019s first crewed\u00a0mission\u00a0since 2016, expanding the country\u2019s already <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/china-launches-seventh-crewed-space-mission-since-2003-2021-06-17\/\">growing near-Earth presence <\/a>and challenging U.S. leadership in orbital\u00a0space.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0astronauts\u00a0rode to Tianhe \u2013 the\u00a0module\u00a0that will be the living quarters of China\u2019s completed\u00a0space\u00a0station\u00a0\u2013 on Shenzhou-12, or \u201cDivine Vessel.\u201d The crew\u00a0boarded the\u00a0module, where they will live for three months, the longest stay in low-Earth orbit by any\u00a0Chinese\u00a0national.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s\u00a0space\u00a0station, due to be finished by the end of 2022, will be the only alternative to the two-decade-old, U.S.-led International\u00a0Space\u00a0Station\u00a0(ISS), which may be retired in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>If the ISS \u2013 backed mainly by the United States, Russia, Japan, Europe and Canada \u2013 is decommissioned, China would be the operator of the only active\u00a0space\u00a0station. They will also be monitored for how they fare in\u00a0space\u00a0physically and psychologically. An upcoming\u00a0mission\u00a0to the\u00a0space\u00a0station\u00a0will last six months.<\/p>\n<p>Barred by U.S. law from working with NASA and by extension on the ISS, China has spent the past decade developing technologies to build its own\u00a0space\u00a0station, in addition to planning\u00a0missions to the moon, Mars and other planets.<\/p>\n<p>China plans to allow Hong astronaut has been hailed by his team as a bastion of stability and a teacher figure who constantly challenges others with tough questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs long as we have him in our hearts, we have nothing to fear,\u201d fellow astronaut Wang Yaping, who is part of the Shenzhou-12 backup team, told state <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" batch of\u00a0astronauts\u00a0selected in the 1990s for China\u2019s\u00a0space\u00a0program.<\/p>\n<p>Known for his intellect, Liu is often addressed by his colleagues as \u201cLittle Zhuge,\u201d force pilot Tang Hongbo, 45, was from a later batch of\u00a0astronauts and trained for more than a decade before being selected for his first\u00a0spaceflight on Shenzhou-12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve waited for 11 years, and finally I\u2019m ready, and I can contribute my strength,\u201d Tang told reporters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2003, China has launched six crewed\u00a0missions and sent 11\u00a0astronauts\u00a0into\u00a0space, including Zhai Zhigang, who carried out China\u2019s first\u00a0space\u00a0walk ever on the 2008 Shenzhou\u00a0mission.\n
