Unfortunately, they can also mislead us about AI\u2019s potential, reinforce stereotypes, and erase minorities from visions of the\u00a0future.<\/p>\n<p><span><em>[Read:\u00a0Why entrepreneurship in emerging markets matters]<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>You might have noticed, for instance, the abundance of white, human-like\u00a0bodies in the <span style=\"color: #000000;\">picture<\/span>. A <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s13347-020-00415-6#ref-CR44\">study<\/a> by researchers at Cambridge University researchers explained that this visual framework can amplify discrimination, create new power hierarchies, and misrepresent the potential of AI.<\/p>\n<p>A Twitter account called <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NotMyRobots\">@notmyrobots<\/a>\u00a0maintains an archive of these depictions. But creatives, academics, businesses, and\u00a0journalists\u00a0can do better than this.<\/p>\n<p>I recognize the hypocrisy of criticizing something that I\u2019ve perpetrated. Unlike AI, I\u2019m vaguely self-aware.
