There are stories that touch on other worlds, time <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>, and alien beings, but all of these genre conventions are seen through an African lens that makes them totally new. I can\u2019t wait for people to have their minds blown and say \u2018I want more!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael Paull, President, Disney+ and ESPN+, The Walt Disney Company, added: \u201cWe are bringing the work of a visionary new generation of African filmmakers to Disney+. In addition to delivering thrilling animation for fans of all ages, this collection of ten original films taps into the Afrofuturism phenomenon which was turbo-charged by Marvel\u2019s Black Panther and reflects Disney\u2019s ongoing commitment to partnering with leading global talent to tell the stories of the world from fresh and authentic points of view.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Kizazi Moto<\/em>\u00a0derives from the Swahili phrase \u2018kizazi cha moto\u2019 which literally translates as \u2018fire generation,\u2019 capturing the passion, innovation and excitement this new cohort of African filmmakers is ready to bring to the world. \u2018Moto\u2019 also means fire in several other African languages, from Rwanda\u2019s Kinyarwanda to Shona, a Zimbabwean language, speaking to the pan-African spirit we hope this anthology embodies,\u201d commented Tendayi Nyeke, Supervising Producer, Triggerfish.<\/p>\n<p>More than 70 filmmakers across the continent were asked to pitch ideas for the project after multiple years of research that featured input from\u00a0Ghanian comic book blogger Kadi Tay, award-winning Congolese animation supervisor Sidney Kimbo-Kintombo (<em>Avengers: End<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a><\/em>), and Namibian-South African producer Bridget Pickering (<em>Hotel Rwanda<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The 10 films selected are from <strong>Ahmed Teilab<\/strong> (Egypt), <strong>Si<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/anime-manga\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"Anime || Manga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">manga<\/a>liso \u2018Panda\u2019 Sibaya<\/strong> and <strong>Malcolm Wope<\/strong> (South Africa), <strong>Terence Maluleke<\/strong> and <strong>Isaac Mogajane<\/strong> (South Africa), <strong>Ng\u2019endo Mukii<\/strong> (Kenya), <strong>Shofela Coker<\/strong> (Nigeria), <strong>Nthato Mokgata<\/strong> and <strong>Terence Neale<\/strong> (South Africa), <strong>Pious Nyenyewa<\/strong> and <strong>Tafadzwa Hove<\/strong> (Zimbabwe), <strong>Tshepo Moche<\/strong> (South Africa), <strong>Raymond Malinga<\/strong> (Uganda) and <strong>Lesego Vorster<\/strong> (South Africa). Each film will be roughly ten minutes long and when viewed together will comprise a feature-length anthology.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Films\"><\/span><strong>The Films<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p4\"><em><span class=\"s1\"><b>Stardust<\/b><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">created by Ahmed Teilab \u2013 Egypt<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li5\"><i>After receiving a blank scroll of destiny from the Oracle during her coming-of-age ceremony, Nawara, a rebellious stable girl, sets off on a perilous journey to track him down, and demand the kind of future she knows she deserves.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li5\"><b>Ahmed Teilab<\/b> has worked as an art director and colour supervisor on both live action and animation. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He directed two seasons of <i>Sohiel<\/i>, a popular family drama, and co-founded Bare Entertainment, creating multiple IPs for animated series and feature films.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He is the head of visual development for <i>The Grand Night<\/i> feature film, which Giraffics pitched at Mifa 2020 at Annecy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>His work was featured in <i>Epilogue<\/i>, an art book featuring the Middle East\u2019s top artists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><em><span class=\"s1\"><b>Mkhuzi: The Masked Racer<\/b><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">created by Simangaliso \u2018Panda\u2019 Sibaya and Malcolm Wope \u2013 South Africa<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><i>Manzo is a half-human, half alien boy who must defeat the galaxy\u2019s greatest\u2014and craziest\u2014racers in the Soweto Grand Prix to save his neighbourhood from destruction.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\">Like Manzo, <b>Panda<\/b> was born in Soweto and has a heroic mother who is a traditional healer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He was the character artist on <i>Isaura<\/i>, Lucan\u2019s Mozambique-set promo which is a 2020 Epic MegaGrants recipient.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He is also a co-founder of Kasi Sketchbook, an outreach program teaching kids in local neighborhoods about drawing, visual development and the animation industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><b>Malcolm Wope<\/b> is a character designer &amp; 2D animator born in Cameroon and raised in South Africa, who has worked with studios such as Dreamworks, Blur, The Line &amp; Hasbro.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He is the creator of <i>Kung Fu Is Dead<\/i>, an anime-bridge series in development with a major studio.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s also the lead character designer of the first animated Netflix Original from Africa, <i>Mama K\u2019s Team 4<\/i>, and on Triggerfish\u2019s upcoming feature film, <i>Seal Team<\/i>. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><em><span class=\"s1\"><b>Hatima<\/b><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">created by Terence Maluleke and Isaac Mogajane \u2013 South Africa<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><i>In a future Africa, tribes living on land and beneath the sea fight a constant war for Hatima, a powerful natural resource that causes cellular regeneration and also allows humans to survive beneath the waves.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><b>Terence Maluleke<\/b> is a co-director for a visual development collective, Tribal Universe. He is a visual developer focusing on character design. He worked on <i>Junk Pilots<\/i>, which won the Disney Channel Prize for a New Series at the Mifa Pitches at Annecy 2018, and Diprente\u2019s animated series <i>Anansi<\/i>.
