\n A 6-year-old Wyoming boy is being hailed as a hero after his family said he was mauled protecting his younger sister from a dog attack.<\/p>\n

Bridger Walker put himself in harm\u2019s way when he jumped in front of a dog last week that was charging at his younger sister, according to his aunt, Nikki Walker, on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Despite being bit several times on the cheek by the unspecified pooch breed, the boy was able to grab his sister\u2019s hand and bring her to safety, his aunt said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone had to die, I thought it should be me,\u201d he told his aunt, she said.<\/p>\n

Bridger \u2014 who was seen in photos with severe wounds on his mouth, left cheek and eye \u2014 required 90 stitches following the attack, his aunt said.<\/p>\n

His aunt said the boy is now recovering at home and his wounds are \u201clooking so much better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s in great spirits, and his awesome personality is intact,\u201d she wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n

She said the family holds no ill will against the dog owners, who are \u201creally great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel no resentment toward them at all, and\u2014if anything\u2014there\u2019s only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident,\u201d Nikki said.<\/p>\n

The aunt said she was only sharing the story in hopes of getting \u201csome words of encouragement from his favorite heroes\u201d \u2014 including actors Vin Diesel, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland and Chris Hemsworth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks,\u201d she said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
