We learned about upcoming plans from that AMA, like a new web interface to check your camera feeds, but you\u2019ll have to pay a sub<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The AMA got off to a slow start, and that\u2019s apparently due to Crosby double-booking the Reddit event with an investor meeting. But once he did start answering questions, we got a few juicy new details about upcoming Wyze plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Web_Interface_That_Requires_a_Subscription\"><\/span>A Web Interface That Requires a Subscription<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One of the most important items revolves around how you check Wyze camera feeds. Right now, the only official method is through the Wyze app or smart displays. The latter can be pretty slow, though that\u2019s getting better thanks to a switch to webRTC. But if you want to check your feeds from your computer, you have to turn to third-party solutions that don\u2019t work well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>, Crosby confirmed a web interface is on the way. The bad news is, it may require a Cam Plus subscription to access. That\u2019s not totally clear, as he answered the question multiple times in different ways. The\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h24wdk4\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">first time he said<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0the interface would \u201c\u2026 likely require a Cam Plus subscription \u2026\u201d But\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h252svr?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">an hour later<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, he switched to more concrete verbiage: \u201c\u2026 it will be part of Cam Plus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_Camera_Light_Switch_and_Accessories_on_the_Way\"><\/span>New Camera, Light Switch, and Accessories on the Way<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">That\u2019s not the only news we learned, however. Wyze has plenty of hardware plans, including an update to the\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h2539xn\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wyze Cam Pan<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. The panning camera never received a second version, while we\u2019re all the way up to Wyze Cam v3. But it sounds like that v3 will inform the next Cam Pan, as that will pick up the Starlight sensor and color night vision. The main sticking point? The ongoing chip shortage\u2014Wyze can\u2019t keep the Cam v3 in stock, let alone release a second product using the same ships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you prefer smart light switches over smart bulbs (we do at Review Geek), then you\u2019ll be happy to know Crosby said the\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h25ceth?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wyze smart switch<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0should release by the end of the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wyze is working on accessories for existing devices too. According to Crosby, we should see a\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h257le4\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">solar panel option<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0for the Wyze Cam Outdoor in the near future. Theoretically, if you have enough sunshine in your area, you might be able to leave the camera outdoor indefinitely with no need for charging breaks. Crosby also hinted at new sensors for the\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h25jdrb?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wyze thermostat<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h25c0hv?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Home Monitoring system<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0coming soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Future_of_Wyze_and_Matter\"><\/span>The Future of Wyze and Matter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Speaking of the Home Monitoring system,\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">in our review<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, we mentioned that it\u2019s a shame you have to buy the Home Security hub if all you really wanted was the sensors for smart home purposes. According to Crosby, an update to\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h250fyh\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">remove that requirement<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is on the way. We\u2019re not sure how the sensors will pair with your Wyze system at home without the hub, but that\u2019s a welcome development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you\u2019re hoping for HomeKit news, that\u2019s a mixed bag at best. According to Crosby, Wyze isn\u2019t specifically working on\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h24y0iw\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">HomeKit integration<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Instead, the company hopes that integrating the Matter standard will help its products work with HomeKit, which in theory is true. But the Matter standard isn\u2019t finalized yet, which leads to a lot of unknowns. Along those same lines, Crosby admits that it looks like the\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h250q0t\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">current Wyze hardware<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0won\u2019t actually be compatible with the Matter standard. Instead, that\u2019ll be future hardware. Which in turn means, current hardware won\u2019t be HomeKit compatible either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Crosby didn\u2019t answer many questions beyond that, and most of those dealt with problems in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h24sky5?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\">customer service<\/a>, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h2579r4?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\">Wyze app<\/a>, and the ongoing effort to bring <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wyzecam\/comments\/o23km5\/im_wyze_cofounder_dave_crosby_ama\/h24v8bo?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\">RTSP to Wyze Cam v3<\/a>. But what we did learn is interesting.
