Four survivors of the deadly boating accident allegedly caused by the son of a prominent South Carolina prosecutor have voluntarily provided DNA samples to investigators \u2014 after it was revealed he received death threats mentioning the crash just months before his mysterious murder, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Paul Murdaugh, 22, who was found shot dead with his mother, Maggie Murdaugh, 52, faced three felony counts \u2014 two of boating under the influence and one of causing death and bodily injury \u2014 in the 2019 accident that killed a 19-year-old woman.<\/p>\n

Murdaugh, who had been indicted and released on a $50,000 bond, was \u201chighly intoxicated,\u201d \u201cdrunk\u201d and \u201cbelligerent\u201d when he sped his boat into a piling on Archer\u2019s Creek, according to documents reviewed by the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The six people \u2014 all under age 21 \u2014 who were aboard the craft were all ejected. <\/p>\n

All of them but Mallory Beach made it to shore, according to the news<\/a> outlet. Beach\u2019s body was discovered seven days later.<\/p>\n

Now, all four survivors have given DNA samples to police, the Daily Mail reported.<\/p>\n

The four are Paul\u2019s ex-girlfriend Morgan Doughty, Beach\u2019s boyfriend, Anthony Cook, his cousin, Connor Cook, and Connor\u2019s girlfriend, Miley Altman, according to the outlet. Beach\u2019s family members also have provided DNA samples, the report added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the kids on the boat and their family members have voluntarily come forward to provide DNA samples and speak to investigative officers,\u201d Will Folks, founding editor of local news outlet Fitsnews.com, told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

Tommy Crosby, a spokesman for the State Law Enforcement Division, confirmed to the Mail that investigators also have obtained digital and cellphone records to track people\u2019s movements on and around the day of the murders.<\/p>\n

In addition, investigators pulled similar records from Paul\u2019s father, Alex Murdaugh, a prosecutor for the 14th Judicial Circuit<\/a>, who found his son and wife shot dead near their home, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Crosby described the move to retrieve digital and cell records as \u201ca usual investigative process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alex Murdaugh was interviewed by investigators on June 10 and sources close to him said he has a \u201ccast-iron alibi\u201d in his family\u2019s deaths and is merely cooperating to clear himself, the Daily Mail reported.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, allegations of obstruction of justice in the criminal probe into the boat accident also are allegedly being investigated, the outlet reported, citing Folks, who said the information comes from law enforcement and prosecution sources with direct knowledge of the case.<\/p>\n

Mark Tinsley, an attorney for the Beach family, said the family has \u201cevery confidence\u201d in the attorney general<\/a> \u2014 whose office they are \u201chopeful\u201d will \u201ccontinue to investigate and prosecute any improprieties related to any attempts by any members of law enforcement to influence the original criminal investigation related to the boat crash.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail also obtained depositions from the crash survivors that were given as part of the wrongful-death lawsuit brought by Beach\u2019s mother, Renee, against the company that sold alcohol to Paul, who used his older brother\u2019s ID for the purchase.<\/p>\n

The civil suit also names the older brother, Richard Alexander Jr., and the dad for their alleged role in facilitating Paul\u2019s underage drinking.<\/p>\n

Doughty, Paul\u2019s then-girlfriend, described him as \u201can angry drunk\u201d who thought he was \u201cinvincible,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

The group testified that there were arguments over his determination to drive his boat while drunk.<\/p>\n

Anthony, Beach\u2019s boyfriend, suggested taking an Uber but Paul \u2014 who had a drunken alter ego named \u201cTimmy\u201d \u2014 allegedly insisted they would travel<\/a> by boat despite fog and the lack of any light on the vessel, the Daily Mail reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole way everybody was fighting and arguing. We drifted around in circles numerous times. We idled along \u2026 Miley was steady hollering that she had to work the next morning. She was ready to go,\u201d Anthony said, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll Paul was doing was making a fool of himself \u2026 then for some reason Paul acted like he was on drugs or something,\u201d he added. \u201cHe started taking off his clothes during one of the arguments and it is 40 degrees outside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paul stripped \u201call the way down to his boxers,\u201d refused to let anyone else drive his boat and \u201cslapp<\/a>ed, pushed and spat\u201d on his girlfriend, according to the account.<\/p>\n

\u201cI yelled at him once and he just told me \u2026 he was like \u2026 \u2018Shut the eff up and sit the eff down. Nobody else is driving my boat,\u2019\u201d Altman recalled.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
