A\u00a0<em>Blacula<\/em> reboot is in the works at\u00a0<strong>MGM<\/strong>, which is teaming up with\u00a0<strong>Bron<\/strong>\u00a0and the <strong>Hidden Empire Film Group<\/strong> for a \u201cmodern reimagining\u201d of the 1972 Blaxploitation horror classic.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/film\/news\/blacula-reboot-deon-taylor-1234999358\/\">Variety<\/a> reports that MGM, Bron, and\u00a0Hidden Empire Film Group\u2019s Deon and Roxanne Avent Taylor are teaming up to reboot\u00a0<em>Blacula<\/em>, a modern reimagining that will pick up where the original saga left off with 1973\u2019s\u00a0<em>Scream Blacula Scream<\/em>. It <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently will be <em>very<\/em> timely, taking place a\u00a0metropolitan city post-coronavirus pandemic.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Here\u2019s the description for the\u00a0<em>Blacula<\/em> reboot, per Variety:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Blacula is an ancient African prince who is cursed by Dracula after he fails to agree to end the slave trade. Blacula is entombed and awakens 200 years later ready to avenge the death of his ancestors and of those responsible for robbing his people of their work, culture and heritage as they appropriated it for profit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Deon Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0(the Hilary Swank-starring erotic thriller <em>Fatale<\/em>)\u00a0will direct the\u00a0<em>Blacula<\/em> reboot, from a script co-written with\u00a0<strong>Micah Ranum<\/strong>. Roxanne Avent Taylor is producing the movie on behalf of Hidden Empire Film Group.\u00a0Aaron L. Gilbert will produce on behalf of Bron, with DJ Holloway managing the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Blacula<\/em>\u00a0is arguably one of the most prestigious Black franchises and so important to the culture as it birthed a groundswell of Blaxploitation-horror films, which changed the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> for how our people were seen on the big screen,\u201d Taylor said in a statement announcing the new project. Taylor emphasized the importance of the original\u00a0<em>Blacula<\/em>, which was directed by William Crain and starred William Marshall as the African prince who gets turned into a vampire by the legendary Count Dracula:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cGrowing up in Gary, IN, I loved watching <em>Blacula<\/em>\u00a0and was so proud that\u00a0William Marshall was a fellow Gary native. It was hailed for its majority-Black ensemble, led by Marshall and including\u00a0Denise Nicholas and the late Vonetta McGee and Thalmus Rasulala, and has been\u00a0embraced as a touchstone of Blaxploitation cinema.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its campy-sounding name, it was not a satire but a straightforward horror film, inspiring a wave of Blaxploitation-themed horror <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> that would follow.
