Severe alcohol abuse played a role in the death of John Paragon, who was known as the beloved\u00a0blue-faced genie Jambi on \u201cPee-wee\u2019s Playhouse,\u201d The Post has learned.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the Riverside County Coroner, Paragon died on April 3 from \u201ccardiovascular disease with other significant conditions of chronic alcohol abuse.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was 66 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The actor, who was known for his genie chant of the iconic magic words: \u201cMeka leka hi meka hiney ho,\u201d was found dead in his Palm Springs, Calif. residence around 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

He played the role for nearly five years, from 1986 to 1991, and wrote several episodes, earning an Emmy nomination for Best Writing in a Children\u2019s Special.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Paragon got his big break as a member of the groundbreaking Groundlings improv group, which made stars out of fellow \u201cPee-wee\u201d alumni Paul Reubens as well as Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph and many more.<\/p>\n

Throughout the 1980s, Paragon also app<\/a>eared in a number of feature films including \u201cThe Frog Prince\u201d (1986), Weird Al Yankovic\u2019s \u201cUHF\u201d (1989) and the cult cannibalism classic \u201cEating Raoul\u201d (1982), and was later seen making cameos on \u201cSeinfeld.\u201d<\/p>\n
