“#NYC shrink who talked about shooting white people now says they are ‘psychopathic’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The New York City psychiatrist who stunned a Yale School of Medicine audience in April when she revealed her fantasies of \u201cunloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way\u201d characterized white people as \u201cpsychopathic\u201d Thursday in an interview with disgraced former CNN pundit Marc Lamont Hill.<\/p>\n

Dr. Aruna Khilanani \u2014 who also revealed in her talk at Yale\u2019s Child Study Center April 6 that white people \u201cmake my blood boil\u201d and \u201care out of their minds and have been for a long time\u201d \u2014 joined Hill on the fledgling Black News<\/a> Channel\u2019s prime-time program \u201cBlack News Tonight\u201d to discuss her shocking statements. <\/p>\n

\u201cWould it be fair to say, based on your expertise, that white people are psychopathic?\u201d Hill asked Khilanani at one point. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think so, yeah,\u201d Khilanani answered. \u201cI think that there\u2019s many lies \u2026 the level of lying that white people do that has started since colonialism, we\u2019re just used to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Hill asked her to elaborate, Khilanani continued: \u201cEvery time that you steal a country, you loot, you say you\u2019ve discovered something. I mean, this level of lies is actually part of history. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t say that we killed all these people, we got rid of all the Native Americans, we say we discovered America. You don\u2019t talk about the level of death. You don\u2019t talk about the level of what actually occurred,\u201d she went on. \u201cYou wipe the slate clean, you sanitize the violence \u2013 and you actually got lost along the way, trying to go to India \u2014 and then you say you discovered something. And this level of \u2018discovery\u2019 is everywhere. You discovered vegetarianism. You discovered yoga. You discovered \u2014 everything is a discovery and it\u2019s all actually stolen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s comments seemed to be an extension of other remarks Khilanani made in her Yale lecture, which was titled \u201cThe Psychopathic Problem of the White Mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe keep forgetting that directly talking about race [with white people] is a waste of our breath,\u201d Khilanani said at the time. \u201cWe are asking a demented, violent predator who thinks that they are a saint or a superhero to accept responsibility. It ain\u2019t gonna happ<\/a>en. They have five holes in their brain. It\u2019s like banging your head against a brick wall.\u201d<\/p>\n

At still another point in the Yale remarks, Khilanani said that white people \u201csound demented. They don\u2019t even know they have a mask on. White people think it\u2019s their actual face. We need to get to know the mask.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khilanani\u2019s Yale talk made national headlines when audio of it<\/a> was posted on the Substack online platform of former New York Times opinion writer and editor Bari Weiss. The therapist had previously pushed Yale to make video of her remarks public after the Ivy League institution initially restricted viewings to people affiliated with the university.<\/p>\n

In an email to the Times earlier this month, Khilanani said her statements were meant \u201cfor people to reflect on negative feelings. To normalize negative feelings. Because if you don\u2019t, it will turn into a violent action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yale School of Medicine issued a statement<\/a> of its own saying that the \u201ctone and content\u201d of Khilanani\u2019s talk was \u201cantithetical to the values of the school\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hill has his own history of offensive statements. He was fired from CNN in November 2018 after calling for a \u201cfree Palestine from the river to the sea\u201d during a pro-Palestinian event at the United Nations. \u201cFrom the river to the sea\u201d is widely understood as a call for the destruction of Israel and the expulsion of Jews from the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
