Hamm will star in a modernized take on the character, created first in novels by\u00a0Gregory Mcdonald, and made even more famous by two films starring Chase. For a long period of time, Kevin Smith was trying to mount a remake starring\u00a0Jason Lee. Later, Smith was replaced with\u00a0<em>Scrubs<\/em> creator\u00a0Bill Lawrence. Now,\u00a0<em>Superbad<\/em> helmer <strong>Greg Mottola<\/strong> will helm the project.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory Mcdonald\u2019s\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> was so popular he ended up writing 11 total\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> books, some prequels, some sequels, all featuring reporter\u00a0Irwin Maurice Fletcher. Mcdonald\u2019s first\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> book was adapted into a 1985 comedy starring Chevy Chase, where Chase\u2019s\u00a0 Irwin \u201cFletch\u201d Fletcher is offered a large sum of money to murder a millionaire. The twist: the millionaire is the one who hires him.\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> was followed by a sequel,\u00a0<em>Fletch Lives<\/em>, released in 1989. Here\u2019s a trailer for the original film.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fletch\"><\/span><strong>Fletch<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4sMMt2M3RiU?feature=oembed\" width=\"740\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Since then, there have been vague plans for more\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a>, but none of them ever got very far. Now, here we go again. The Wrap says Jon Hamm is set to star in and produce a new\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> reboot for director Greg Mottola at Miramax. While Chase\u2019s\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> films leaned more into comedy, the books weren\u2019t as comedic, and it sounds like this new take is going to try be more of a film noir with occasionally comedic elements rather than a straightforward comedy. It\u2019ll also adapt the second book in the series,\u00a0<em>Confess, Fletch<\/em>. Here\u2019s a synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a mysterious chain of wild events, Fletch finds himself in the middle of multiple murders \u2013 one of which pins him as a prime suspect. While on a quest to prove his innocence, Fletch is tasked with finding his fianc\u00e9e\u2019s stolen art collection, the only inheritance she\u2019s acquired after her father goes missing and is presumed dead.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Regarding the new take on\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em>,\u00a0Miramax CEO Bill Block said: \u201cFletch\u2019s duration over audiences-whether told on paper or the big screen- entertains all and we could not be more thrilled to see what twenty-first-century twist these artists create.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here I will confess that I\u2019ve never gotten around to seeing either of the\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> films. That said, I like Hamm and I continue to find it weird that such a great actor has had such a spotty film career. He deserves better, damn it! Will\u00a0<em>Fletch<\/em> be the film he\u2019s been looking for?
