{"id":279123,"date":"2021-06-20T01:27:19","date_gmt":"2021-06-19T22:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/eeoc-files-lawsuit-over-worker-fired-for-refusing-to-be-fingerprinted\/"},"modified":"2021-06-20T01:27:19","modified_gmt":"2021-06-19T22:27:19","slug":"eeoc-files-lawsuit-over-worker-fired-for-refusing-to-be-fingerprinted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/eeoc-files-lawsuit-over-worker-fired-for-refusing-to-be-fingerprinted\/","title":{"rendered":"#EEOC files lawsuit over worker fired for refusing to be fingerprinted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#EEOC files lawsuit over worker fired for refusing to be fingerprinted<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/06\/Fingerprint.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p id=\"Gaaq8a\">A Minnesota man refused to leave fingerprints \u2014 and got fired for it.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing a Minnesota firm on behalf of Henry Harrington, of Mound, who was sacked for refusing the company\u2019s requirement to be fingerprinted on religious grounds, the<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/lawsuit-twin-cities-man-says-he-was-fired-for-refusing-to-be-fingerprinted-due-to-christian-faith\/600069652\/\"> Star Tribune reported Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"koDIwh\">The EEOC suit against AscensionPoint Recovery Services, a debt recovery company, was filed this week. <\/p>\n<p id=\"o5WDEg\">AscensionPoint had requested that workers be fingerprinted as a result of a background check requirement of one of its clients, according to the EEOC. <\/p>\n<p id=\"o5WDEg\">Harrington, 37, however, told AscensionPoint in July 2017 that having his fingerprints captured was contrary to his Christian beliefs. He was fired the same day.<\/p>\n<p id=\"bhbugd\">The suit seeks back pay for Harrington from the time he was fired, and other financial compensation for \u201cemotional pain, suffering, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment of life and humiliation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"2lQGoi\">\u201cAn employee should not have to choose between his faith and his livelihood,\u201d Gregory Gochanour, the EEOC\u2019s regional attorney in the Chicago District Office, said in a statement. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
