Before he made it big on \u201cFriends,\u201d David Schwimmer worked on wheels for seven long years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was a roller-skating\u00a0waiter in Chicago for seven years,\u201d Schwimmer told The Guardian<\/a>. \u201cYou make your real money by doing stunts. Everyone gets their burgers and fries, then you say: \u2018Hey, you want me to jump over your kids for five bucks?\u2019 They\u2019d have their kids lie on the ground and I\u2019d just jump over them at 30mph.\u201d<\/p>\n

By then Schwimmer was used to hard work as he\u2019d been hardened by a series<\/a> of \u201creally crappy summer jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI worked at this place called Steve\u2019s Ice-cream where you had to mix in all the candy or cookie crumbs by hand on this big marble slab for three bucks an hour,\u201d Schwimmer recalled. \u201cAt 16, I worked at this copy machine place. I had to pretend to be some guy from Xerox. I\u2019d phone up customers and say: \u2018I see you have a Xerox 2-2500. Looks like you\u2019re running out of toner.\u2019 Some innocent secretary would say: \u2018I don\u2019t think we are?\u2019 and I\u2019d say: \u2018I think you are, let me send you a couple of boxes.\u2019 It wasn\u2019t exactly legal. I turned up one day and the whole place had been raided.\u201d<\/p>\n

While he made the world fall in love with him on \u201cFriends,\u201d Schwimmer almost didn\u2019t become an actor at all.<\/p>\n

As a child, \u201cI wanted to be\u00a0a surgeon,\u201d he told the paper. \u201cI was fascinated by the human body: I knew everything about the lymphatic, the vascular and the skeletal systems. I was a big science<\/a> geek, but I found that I could talk to more girls in acting class than in the science lab. So that kind of derailed my medical career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another fun fact: while attending a summer program at Oxford, Schwimmer opted to take a clown course, saying \u201c[It] just spoke to me. So I went to clown school, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
