He taught me how to be a good son. He taught me how to be a good father. He taught me how to be a good baseball man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think [Sunday] I\u2019ll pay him a call, and we usually thank him for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old Rojas is the ninth of 11 children Alou had via four marriages, also including half-brother and former Mets outfielder Moises Alou.<\/p>\n<p>Felipe Alou, now 86, was the first player born and raised in the Dominican Republic to reach the major leagues and play in the World <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a>. He wanted us all to be humble and all of us to be good men, even before good baseball men,\u201d said Rojas, who has one son, named Luis Felipe. \u201cI think one leads to the other to develop.<\/p>\n<p>        <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Podcast\" width=\"100%\" height=\"188px\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.acast.com\/amazin-but-true\/concernswithjacobdegrom-sinjuries-feat.steveserby?accentColor=2a2a2a&amp;bgColor=f6f6f6&amp;font-family=proxima%20nova&amp;logo=false&amp;secondaryColor=cc3333\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden;\"><br \/>\n        <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s probably the biggest advice he\u2019s always given me, to be the same person on and off the uniform. That\u2019s consistently from a young age I think I\u2019ve worked really hard to be the same the whole time. And that\u2019s why at this point, I am who I am. I think that\u2019s the biggest advice he\u2019s given me and he\u2019s helped me become a better person each day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rojas added he remains \u201copen-minded to learn more and more, and it\u2019s because of all the advice\u201d his father has given him throughout his lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last thing I wanted for any one of my children was to become a manager,\u201d Alou told The Post\u2019s Howie Kussoy last year. \u201cI know all the pressure, all the sleepless nights, all the slumps. Managers are going to get fired. So to me, it was kind of like a nightmare that [my sons] Moises or Jose [Alou] or Luis would become a manager.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Luis had to be a manager.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rojas spent 12 years as a coach and manager in the Mets\u2019 minor-league system and one as Mickey Callaway\u2019s quality control coach before he was promoted to take over the Mets last season after Carlos Beltran was fired before managing a game in the wake of the Astros\u2019 sign-stealing scandal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Felipe Alou] has always been proud from Day 1 that I\u2019m a manager at the big-league level,\u201d Rojas said. \u201cHe\u2019s always been proud for the different things that I did, whether it\u2019s when I started coaching, or when I started playing professionally, all the stages, everything, every capacity that I\u2019ve been at \u2026 He\u2019s just been proud every single time.\u201d\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
