\n The Mets hope to get more answers on Jacob deGrom\u2019s status soon as the ace will undergo an MRI exam Wednesday, manager Luis Rojas said.<\/p>\n

DeGrom, the 32-year-old two-time Cy Young winner, exited Tuesday night\u2019s intrasquad game<\/a> after just one inning with back tightness, clouding his status for Opening Day. The Mets are set to open the shortened 2020 MLB season on July 24 against the Atlanta Braves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think deGrom touched three digits in the inning he pitched \u2026 but nothing we saw, that he mentioned,\u201d Rojas said Wednesday of the injury. \u201cHe shared it with the pitching coach and the medical staff after that inning.\u201d<\/p>\n

After throwing three innings in his first intrasquad game of spring training 2.0, deGrom was set to build up his pitch count Tuesday before the injury. He was also scheduled to pitch against the Yankees in Saturday\u2019s exhibition game.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
