{"id":279677,"date":"2021-06-21T12:20:40","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T09:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/banque-de-france-tests-digital-currency-based-securities-settlement\/"},"modified":"2021-06-21T12:20:40","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T09:20:40","slug":"banque-de-france-tests-digital-currency-based-securities-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/banque-de-france-tests-digital-currency-based-securities-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"# Banque de France tests digital currency-based securities settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong># Banque de France tests digital currency-based securities settlement <\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjEtMDYvNWFhOGNhNTktZjdjMy00NjQ4LTg0YzItMGM1M2M3ODQ5NzY0LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-128018ef>The central bank of France \u2014 Banque de France \u2014 is continuing its work on the development of a European central bank digital currency (CBDC).<\/p>\n<p>On Monday the bank officially <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.banque-france.fr\/en\/communique-de-presse\/banque-de-france-conducted-group-participants-formed-around-seba-bank-central-bank-digital-currency\">announced<\/a>\u00a0the successful completion of a CBDC experiment with major Switzerland-based cryptocurrency bank SEBA.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted in collaboration with SEBA, Banque Internationale \u00e0 Luxembourg, and Luxembourg central securities depository LuxCSD, the experiment used a CBDC to simulate the settlement and delivery of listed securities on\u00a0TARGET2-Securities (T25), a European securities settlement engine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SEBA <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.luxcsd.com\/luxcsd-en\/newsroom\/210621-2690144\">purchased<\/a> securities from Banque Internationale \u00e0 Luxembourg, with post-trade settlement managed by LuxCSD.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Digital euro offers better privacy protections than private stablecoins: ECB official<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nathalie Aufauvre, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> director of financial stability and operations at Banque de France, said that the latest CBDC test demonstrated the possibilities for conventional finance systems and distributed systems to interact. \u201cIt also paves the way for other alliances in order to benefit from the opportunities offered by financial assets in a blockchain environment,\u201d Aufauvre said.<\/p>\n<p>The bank noted that the new CBDC test is part of an experimental CBDC program launched in March 2020, that aims to test CBDC integration for settlements.
